DJ Applehead

Matthew “Applehead” Quintana was born and raised on Long Island, New York. He was introduced to stage performing at a very young age but it was not until his high school years that that it became his passion. As a high school student at John H. Glenn High School in Elwood, New York Matthew was cast as in a leading role three out of his four year in attendance. It was at this time that he began to envision his future as a performer. Upon his graduating from Glenn, Matthew continued on to St. John’s University to pursue a career in communications with a minor theater. At St. John’s University from (phone number hidden)7, Matthew was a member of the St. John’s University Chappell Players, as well as he was cast in a commercial for the University itself.

In 1997, Matthew’s time at St. John’s ended as he transferred to Dowling College in Oakdale, New York. With a change of his career focus to education, Matthew continued to perform for the Black Box Theater on Rudolph Campus. Eventually, Matthew began to branch out and audition for several local theater companies landing roles there as well as in an Off Broadway production in the late 1990’s.
Matthew then took time to dedicate his time to his passion and while not enrolled in Dowling for a semester he began to seek auditions for television and movie roles. It was at one of these auditions that Matthew met his future mentor and manager. While at an audition for the HBO cable television show The Soprano’s, Matthew came across a man in line who after hours of waiting for their turn, Joseph Errico suggested that he come and work at his full service entertainment company based in Coram, Long Island. The audition eventually was shut down by law enforcement but Matthew’s drive to perform continued. It was in the early 2000’s, while working as a Teacher and Director and Assistant Director for a variety of public school drama productions, that Matthew began to work regularly with one of the foremost names in DJ/Entertainment Services on Long Island. While working with this company, Matthew was able to travel through the North East to enjoy the events that he was working. Events ranged from Weddings, to Bar/Bat mitzvahs to corporate events for Automobile Companies and everything in between. The venues ranged from Catering Halls on the North Shore of Long Island, the back yard weddings in the Hamptons to Hotels on Manhattan. Matthew enjoyed working for this company for nearly four years until his move to South Florida in 2004. It was in winter of 2005, that Matthew found himself wanting to get back into the entertainment industry and approached a local South Florida entertainment company. Hired as an MC, Matthew was able to entertain numerous partygoers and guests of honor. Since Matthew’s move to Florida, he has entertained events in venues across the state from Ocala to the Keys Largo, Naples, to Key Biscayne, and everywhere in between. One that stands out the most is the Villa by Barton G formerly the Mansion of fashion icon Gianni Versace, where Matthew as a DJ, shared time entertaining guests of a fundraiser with former Miss American, singer and actor Vanessa Williams.

Although Matthew still out sources his services to several South Florida companies and continues to look for projects that bring him to different events throughout the nation. It is with his 20 years of performance experience including the stage (performing directing/assistant directing, and other behind the scenes work) that he looks forward to seeing a final product come from a discussion or an idea.
