DJ Dr. Nate is a time traveling DJ specializing in themed events, dances, parties, weddings & vintage music festivals.
I love and LIVE music. I’ve been putting together music from a young age, making my first “mix tape” at age 7. I specialize in a lot of genres, but my favorites are classic ones like 50s & 60s Rock ‘n’ Roll, Swing, Rockabilly, Surf Rock, Doo-Wop, Motown, Classic Rock, 80s & 90s hits, Tiki and more! Just ask!
I can do modern as well - there's something I love from every decade :-)
I also am an experienced MC and Sound Engineer, and I have my own multi-track PA system with professional speakers and mics. I also teach swing and other partner dances!
DJ Dr. Nate is amazing! I’ve seen him perform at events around Southern California and he always has the crowd on their feet. He has an extremely deep understanding of so many eras of music- rock and roll, swing, disco, 80s, 90s, and modern. I’ve seen him take a crowd from completely sleepy and sitting down to up on their feet and dancing literally for hours! If you want that vintage feel for your themed event or just a really good modern DJ, he’s a perfect fit.
I'm a very, very avid dancer here in Los Angeles and have been involved in numerous dance scenes since the late 1990s. I had the absolute pleasure of meeting DJ Dr. Nate back around 2015, and trust me when I say he *is* the top of the top! I've seen him make the evening happen countless times as he spins everything from 1950s Doo Wop to Gatsby-era jazz to Hip Hop, Latin, Rockabilly, Swing, Surf, Disco, and everything in between. Nobody, and I mean nobody, nails it as accurately- or as fun! -as this guy. We've bonded over countless hours of music discussion; sometimes I would run over to him, mid-song and mid-dance, to ask what amazing version of a favorite classic he just pulled up. And I'm not the only one here- he would hold court at various nightclubs and private parties around town and all of the party goers knew it would be an amazing time if DJ Dr. Nate was spinning. And if they didn't know him before the event, they certainly did after! Add to all this he's amazingly friendly, knowledgeable, and engaging, AND he's a snappy vintage dresser to boot, and I don't really know how you can go any better than this guy. For your private event you honestly can't miss him. He IS the party maker, he gets everyone on the floor, he reads the room perfectly, and he brings an encyclopedic knowledge of all eras of vintage music to your party. Go for it!
Price Range: $250 and up
I love and LIVE music, so at every gig, I try to create a truly fun and immersive atmosphere for the event. Whatever the vibe is you are hoping to create, that's what I will help make happen. If it's upbeat, dancing and wild, you got it! And if it's chill, cool and refined, you got that, too! I'm good at reading the room. I want to make the event fun, I do not have my own agenda to push through, as I've unfortunately seen some DJs do now and then.
I especially love creating the vibe for themed evenings and events. This also makes me great for specialty parties, holidays, and more. But I'm equally reliable in all the hits of today and yesterday that keep people moving!
I'm an experienced emcee and public speaker, so I'm very ready to make whatever announcements needed, host games, drawings, keep the evening moving, interview guests, just ask!
I am also someone who knows the technical side of sound well. If you need me to bring my own sound system, I have a great one, and I have a mixer and all the necessary equipment to run sound for a live band as well, which I've done at many venues and events, including 4 years at Downtown Disney (I still return there to be the guest sound engineer for various vocal groups like The Sunset Singers and Satin Dollz).
While I love COUNTLESS music genres old and new, if you really are looking for someone who knows a specific vintage genre well, here are some I focus especially in:
1950s Rock and Roll Dance
Swing Dance Music
60s Motown & R&B
Tiki & Exotica
Rockabilly
Surf Rock & Vintage Summer hits
70s Dance & Disco
80s & 90s Parties
Doo-Wop
Sci-Fi Soundtracks
DJ Dr. Nate grew up hearing his talented dad singing Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Elvis and many other vintage artists’ songs. Sadly, he did not inherit his dad’s singing voice, so he spins the tunes instead!
He's been putting together music he loves from a young age, making his first “mix tape” at 7 years old.
Nate loves dancing and spins the songs that make him want to dance, hoping everyone else will want to, too!
Nate has performed at numerous festivals, including Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekend, The Western Swingout, The Hot Rod Rock & Rumble, and more. He’s been DJing in the Los Angeles Area for the past 15 years. He was the Tuesday night DJ & host at Joe’s for almost 6 years in Burbank, CA (until Covid). He also spins regularly in Southern California at Clifton’s Republic in Downtown LA, The Moose in Burbank, and Secret Island Tiki Lounge in Long Beach, as well as numerous private events.
He will be returning to DJ and MC at Viva Las Vegas #27!
You can catch his “Swingin’ & Rockin’ – Get Up & Dance” show on Rockin247Radio every Saturday
