The DJ I hired arrived late because he could not find the venue, although it is back on a country road. Upon arriving, he set up a sound system and played some rather plain music. He made no effort to entertain the crowd until about the last hour or so when he turned the volume up. He did not speak on the microphone the entire night. We could have simply used a playlist on some type of device and gotten the same result.
