Don Shannon

We were so very impressed with the performance by Don Shannon. His music (and kilt) were spectacular, and were a great way for Tarrant County College NE Campus to start the 2024 International Festival. We highly recommend Don and hope to have him come play for us again in the future.

Don showed up early, dressed to the 9’s, was extremely friendly and accommodating and helped make our sons wedding super special.

We booked Don Shannon to play at my dad‘s funeral. He was amazing to work with. As soon as we booked him, he reached out to talk about the service and what songs we’d like played and then kept in touch over the two weeks until the actual service happened. The day of the service he arrived early and was very professional and went the extra mile, playing some songs that we hadn’t even mentioned in our original conversations. I would recommend him to anyone who’s looking for a piper no matter what the occasion is.

I knew of Don's fantastic playing from performing together in several Millennial Choirs and Orchestra concerts. So when my proud Scottish Grandpa recently passed I knew precisely how he should be honored. Thankfully, Don was available, helpful, knowledgeable, and so respectful. He was able to accommodate us on song selection and a great communicator. It was a blessing to hear him play as the family arrived at the cemetery walking behind my Grandpa's casket as if gingerly calling him home. I am forever grateful for the comfort I felt in that moment. Thank you, Don!

Don came and played at my husband's birthday memorial celebration at the Hillcrest Garden of Memory dressed in his formal attire. It was terribly hot. He was on time and played so many beautiful songs, some that I had asked him to play. He was so accommodating and so professional.

For years, mom had made it known that she wanted a bagpipe player to play at her funeral. Don exceeded expectations. So accommodating - even played a requested song he hadn’t played before! Very professional. I’m quite sure my mother enjoyed it from afar. 👍

Don played for our Senior Living Community and it was a HIT! He was our first since COVID and we cant tell you how pleased we were! We will definitely be having him here again for future events. He was professional and arrived early. 10 out of 10 recommend

Our Scottish friends planned to be in Scotland for their 50th wedding anniversary. Covid caused a change in plans. We hired Don to surprise our friends with a mini concert in their front yard. It was so perfect! Don is very nice and went out of his way to meet our schedule. He looked great walking up the street to our friend's yard, and did a fun mini concert. I would hire him again anytime. I strongly recommend him.

Don really made a huge difference during a very difficult time. We buried my father during this pandemic and Don played beautifully. The songs were just perfect and playing Amazing Grace as he was walking off into the distance was a beautiful end to our ceremony.

Don was nice and easy to work with! We got married in a historic chapel with lots of rules, one of which was only acoustic music. So when we were thinking of songs and instruments that would sound neat in the church and someone mentioned a bagpipe, we knew we had to have one. My husband and I both have Scottish heritage and thought it would be a fun surprise for our guests. I found 3 songs I wanted and the rest were the musicians choice. All three of the musicians (none of who had worked together before) worked out the details, who was playing what, who played together, etc. From my prospective it was so easy and they did a fabulous job! Everyone has commented on how breathtaking it was to have Don walk through the church playing the bagpipe right before my dad and I walked down the aisle. I wish I had more reasons to have Don play the bagpipe. I can't wait to have another event where he can play!

My goodness, Don Shannon is not only a consummate professional, he is just such a special human who seeks to bring inspiration to your event.

Long before our wedding date, he made a connection with me, we began chatting back and forth, and he told me he would meet me at the Filter Building on Whiterock Lake on a Sunday afternoon to play a few tunes for me.

I was hooked the moment he showed up in his kilt and began playing.

Subsequent to that, he even dropped by my fiancé’s house to play in honor of the two year anniversary of the first time we met.

Then at the wedding, he did everything we requested and more!

We also invited he and a guest to join us for the evening, which they did, ingratiating themselves and being an inspiration for our special evening!

As it turned out, he also knew one of our invited guests. So Don is now not only the bagpiper for our wedding, but going forward, he’s our newfound friend.

You will love Don Shannon’s bagpiping, but more importantly, you’ll just love Don Shannon, the man.

Don’t hesitate, hire him, he’s worth every cent, and you will not regret making the commitment to having him play for your event.

I always knew I wanted a bagpiper at the service when my dad died, but just thought he would play a round of Amazing Grace and that would be it. I recently hired Don Shannon as a Bagpiper for my son's rehearsal dinner at The Tribute Golf Course in The Colony. Don added just the right entertainment element to the event. My father passed away suddenly and we wanted to honor him with a piper at his internment. Mr. Shannon went above and beyond, coordinating with the funeral director and Air Force honor guard on site at a time when we were unable to think clearly ourselves. I've always said, everything is better with bagpipes, but I had no idea it would make such a difference that day. Bagpipes are joyous and bold, but they were developed as a shepherd's instrument. Mr. Shannon surely shepherded my father's soul to his glorious home.

Don played for my father's funeral. He did an excellent job. My father would have loved his rendition of Amazing Grace.

As a part of our wedding on Saturday, we had a country theme on our ranch. My son, however, knew how much I had wanted to wear my kilt and have a piper at the wedding. My son contacted Don the day before, and although he had two other weddings that day, he graciously came out to our ranch (a long drive from Dallas). We hit it off from the moment he heard I had spent so much time in Armagh. He was amazing!! It added a truly memorable and special note to our wedding. If you're looking for an outstanding piper, and a really nice guy, Don is your man!
