The audience can expect an easy-going stage presence with a variety of energy ranging from up-tempo, hard-stomping tunes to smooth fingerstyle guitar and vocals. Acoustic performance featuring vocals, acoustic guitar, and a multi-percussion sound stomp box.
A native Hoosier, Doug has always had a passion for music. While primarily a
percussionist (with the Ted Yoder Band), he grew fond of the guitar in recent
years and began writing his own original music. Doug’s style has been shaped by
his love for Alison Krauss, James Taylor, The Wailin Jennys, Joy Williams and many
other great musical storytellers. He loves reaching people with the joy of music,
so when he’s not on stage with Ted or spending time with his wife and son, you
just might find him on the front porch of his home picking his guitar.
I have all my own gear, including mics, stands, cables, amp and one PA speaker. If the venue prefers me to use their sound equipment that is fine as well. I do require a power source. I can do my own sound but will be happy to work with the venue’s sound technician if one is available. Stage space requirements is 8 feet x 8 feet minimum. Shade preferred for outdoor performances.
Song titles and order may vary depending on the gig, but common songs include: “Copperline” by James Taylor, “Run Around” by Blues Traveler, “Mandolin Rain” by Bruce Hornsby, “Angel from Montgomery” by John Prine, “No Roots” by Alice Merton, “Rhythm of the Rain” by the Cascades (Dan Fogelberg style), “End of the Innocence” by Don Henley, “The Ghosts that Haunt Me” by the Crash Test Dummies, “Castle on the Hill” by Ed Sheeran, “I Guess That’s Why They Call It the Blues” by Elton John, “One More Dollar” by Gillian Welch, “Boulder to Birmingham” by Emmylou Harris, “Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)” by the Eurhythmics, “From Now On” by Hugh Jackman (Greatest Showman soundtrack), “Toes” by Zac Brown, “Black Muddy River” by the Grateful Dead, “Shotgun” by George Ezra, “Thinking Out Loud” by Ed Sheeran, “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles, “Fire and Rain” by James Taylor, “Landslide” by Fleetwood Mac, “Walking In Memphis” by Marc Cohn, “Stay” by Little Big Town, “Take It Down” by John Hiatt, “Timshel” by Mumford and Sons, “Bold Riley” (public domain), “Do You Remember” by Phil Collins, “Brand New Day” by Sting, “Fields of Gold” by Sting”, “Slip Slidin’ Away” by Simon and Garfunkel, “The Boxer” by Simon and Garfunkel, “Fast Car” by Tracy Chapman, “A Thousand Miles” by Vanessa Carlton, “All the Stars” by The Wailin’ Jennys, “Free Fallin’” by Tom Petty and “Trees For Skies” by Ruth Moody
My influences include James Taylor, Alison Krauss, NEEDTOBREATHE, The Wailin’ Jennys, Ruth Moody, Bruce Hornsby, Zac Brown and Paul Simon. There are certainly many others who continue to inspire me!
