Ed responded to my request to play for my great great grandfather's Civil War Marker dedication. James emigrated from Donegal, Ireland and I wanted to honor James in music as well as words.
It was Ed's idea to wear a Donegal kilt and Civil War jacket. He was impeccably dressed and his demenour respectful and reverent.
Ed suggested a Civil War marching tune for the somber profession from the Sanctuary to the gravesite, Amazing Grace while James' great great great grandson's set the marker and American flag and Taps to conclude the dedication.
"Goosebumps", "welt up with tears", "amazing", "so profound" were all comments from some of the 18 family and friends in attendance.
Ed elevated the experience to become art. Do not hesitate to contract with him!
Now, I am trying to dream up another opportunity to hire him again. No worries, I will think of something. Ed is worth every dollar of his quote.

We were very pleased with Ed's outstanding performance. He added a very special element to our group's closing ceremony and butterfly release for our dear children gone too soon. He played at my cousin's funeral service and really served the tone honoring a retired firefighter!
We highly recommend Ed. We hired him to make an appearance at a Memorial Day party as a surprise birthday gift for one of our friends. Communicating with Ed was easy, and he asked questions so he could tailor the music to our friend, who both Scottish and in the Navy. Ed coaches the US Naval Academy's pipe band, and arrived (on time) in his USNA kilt and uniform. playing the theme from Top Gun. He even brought our friend a USNA kilt pin. Ed is very personable, answered lots of questions about bagpipes, and even stayed for dinner. The event couldn't have gone better.
Ed did a great job! Was personable, funny and gave us a bit of a back story with a few of the songs. Made my mom's birthday one she will never forget! Highly recommend!

Insurance: $25,000 - I work with an insurance provider that can provide coverage for any event.
My fee is based on time required and play list. I will work with you to create music for your event. I have an extensive repertoire and can include a lecture format and audience participation. I have published articles on the history of bagpiping. I can even teach a few easy folk dances.
I have over 40 years experience playing the bagpipes in a variety of venues. I have led several pipe bands and have competed at the highest level of amateur competition. I have played in several folk groups. I lived in Scotland and spent many summers in Cape Breton which has given me a grounding in Celtic music. I have also explored and can play music from Brittany and Galicia. I am currently the Director of the US Naval Academy Pipes, Drums and Highland Dancers which requires both teaching and performing. I work with people to individualize the performances and events, both musically and visually. It is your event and I want to ensure the music fits your vision.
