Add some line dances during the breaks along with some slow belly rubbing music, mixers, FUN songs like Hokey Pokey + Birdie Song for added smiles
I need an 8 foot table + 2 chairs, 110v electric, and cover from the sun and elements if outside.. (no outside in colder temps) so a portable stage or similar, pop-up awning, or inside the entrance to a garage for a block party, for example
Dancers will need a smooth surface free of obstacles and debris... allow 10 foot by 10 foot minimum per square (12 foot by 12 foot is even better.. no gravel surfaces but concrete or blacktop is doable), inside note that wood, tile, or concrete is better than carpeted areas...
I bring my own sound equipment and license for use of the music (ASCAP + BMI)

Square Dancing is the only truly American dance form and has been exported around the world. From the combined dances of common folk and the society beginning in George Washington's day was born the square dance. The songs embraced the events of the day in every region of the country. Live bands typically included guitars, fiddles, perhaps a banjo or harmonica and played the different tempos as the square dance caller put together the choreography and "called" it to the dancers. Many times they would "cut a rug" - meaning the actual cutting of the carpet from the floor in a house sitting room or living room to provide a smooth dance floor and the fun would begin. All ages, neighbors from near and far, would join in for the festivities. Square dancing was "The Original Social Network"(c).
Over the years, more songs and dances were added. New callers learned to call. The 1950's saw the scene in nearly every cowboy movie of square dancing and popularity grew rapidly. Soon enough, many saw the value of square dancing in pulling the community together including Henry Ford, who funded square dance recordings to be supplied to every school in America for the children to learn and enjoy. The 1980's Urban Cowboy movie helped with another rise in popularity of square dancing and the addition of line dancing as many sought to "cowboy up". This continued until the recent covid events that sent many home to shelter from their neighbors. Yet, square dancing and line dancing brings community together, families and friends are again joining the fun of dancing and living life!
All of this has influenced my desire to bring the joy of square dancing to as many people as possible. Thus, the creation of Eddie Powell's Country Dance Party(c) to share Square Dancing: The Most FUN You Can Have With Your Boots On!(c)
