Fourth Time Around began when drummer Shawn Hale and guitarist Luke Nienow arrived at Texas State University San Marcos, where they met McKinney folk artist Skyler Sands.
The trio quickly found a bassist and began playing mostly folk and blues-oriented music composed by Skyler. Under the name "Skyler Sands and the Questions," they played venues in their home base of San Marcos. The group had a revolving door of bassists, until finally Luke took up the bass and local artist Allison Renee was recruited for acoustic guitar and backing vocals. Now called "The Questions," the group continued picking up fans around San Marcos and Austin.
Eventually, Allison left the band to pursue other things. Luke switched back to lead guitar and brought in bassist Luis Parra. With this new lineup came an evolution of the band's sound. All members now had a significant amount of creative input, and their focus shifted towards indie rock. As a result, The Questions became Fourth Time Around. 4TA has since recorded a demo and hopes to reach audiences far and wide with their unique sound.
Fourth Time Around requires 3 microphones and stands for an optimum show. Equipment is fairly standard, a large fender bass amp and hallow body bass. A cream epiphone guitar with a giant pedal board and a tweed fender deluxe. A beautiful black and blue Fender Jaguar with a modest pedal board and another fender deluxe in black. Drums we bring vary by the venue but is usually two crashes, high hat, floor tom, high tom, 24 inch bass, and ride. Drums all have a dark red finish.
