We booked the string trio for the ceremony and a duo for the cocktail hour as a surprise for my sister's wedding. Stephanie was wonderful at walking us through the process and working with my sister's wedding planner to coordinate the surprise.

Overall, the surprise was a hit and the live music was a very fun and elegant touch! Fretless has an expansive repertoire of music and were very accommodating about learning new songs that the bride and groom had requested for the processional and recessional.

If you are considering strings for your event, I cannot recommend Fretless enough!

Just before COVID hit, we booked Fretless Music as a trio for our wedding dinner party. Once the pandemic became a thing, Stephanie was more than accommodating of our need to shift our event. In the end, it turned into an anniversary dinner instead of a wedding event, but it was WORTH THE WAIT. The musicians all arrived early, were eager to be part of making the night better, and then performed flawlessly! We were even in a very intimate room and the music neither dominated conversation nor went unheard.

The groups list of available songs covers a wide array of interests and their willingness to learn new pieces based on our requests was also very helpful. My wife and I had very unknown music that was important to the development of our relationship that the group learned and perfected for us and our guests to enjoy right as dinner was served. It provided an unexpected, but perfect, opportunity to share the significance with our closest friends and family and we owe that moment to Fretless Music.

In the days following the event, we continue to hear from our guests how amazing the night was and frequently with direct compliments to the musicians. We will be keeping this group in mind for future events and would heartily recommend them to anyone who will listen. We genuinely could not be happier with Fretless Music and our decision to trust them to help complete our evening.

When my husband proposed, he had a violinist appear out of nowhere to perform as he got down on one knee. When we started planning our wedding, we knew we wanted string instruments during the ceremony and cocktail hour. We live streamed the wedding so immediately following the end of our ceremony, we cut the cake and then did our first dance so that our viewers could watch. Stephanie masterfully played during the entire experience!

It was mostly movie music and fun theme songs that would make our families smile while they waited (5,000 candles in the wind anyone?!) and Stephanie did it all with a smile. We wanted our wedding to be super formal, but still fun and not stuffy. Fretless Strings was the perfect addition to accomplish that. The classical sound of the string instruments paired with pop and rock songs was a huge hit. It didn’t take our guests long to realize they weren’t playing your usual classic music and they loved it.

Working with them was so easy. Stephanie was incredibly nice and responsive, and booking with them was so quick and easy. They really made our day something very special and unique and we couldn’t be happier. The only challenging part is being the bride or groom and trying to enjoy it fully and still talk with all your guests. I hope I have a chance to attend someone else’s wedding where Fretless Strings is playing!

Working with Fretless Music was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding! I am not a sentimental or overly romantic person, but - even for me - words can't describe how special it was to have live string music walking down the aisle. Fretless played for our ceremony and cocktail hour and just about every guest complimented how wonderful their music was. It really established the atmosphere. We had Fretless play mostly contemporary music with a sprinkling of classical, and everything they played was delightful. They also adjusted the pace of my processional to the appropriate speed for the moment (Sweet Child 'O Mine - which is so beautiful on strings). They did a fantastic job with everything and I can't imagine my wedding any other way. For any bride wondering if you should splurge on a string ensemble - my recommendation would be yes, absolutely yes - and I can't recommend Fretless Music enough. Even my husband (who was quite frugal during the wedding planning process) said this was the best money we spent on our wedding.

Stephanie was so terrific to work with every step of the way. She is quick to respond, proactive and so full of warmth. I think they perform just about every weekend and you would never know it working with Stephanie, because she was so attentive our needs and on top of check-ins and timelines. It felt like we were their only client. They have a wide breadth of music in their repertoire and can accommodate any taste and setting. I truly can't recommend them enough!!

To be honest, there isn't one slightly bad thing to say about Fretless Music! They sounded absolutely amazing (coming from us who play classical instruments). We hired Fretless Music’s string duo for our small twenty person wedding ceremony in December and then subsequently hired their trio for the cocktail hour of our larger 110 person wedding reception in July, because they are Just That Good! They are so professional and have a great repertoire of songs to choose from. I would wholeheartedly recommend them for any type of event because they have music for all occasions and they are just plain fun! We also found them to be very affordable and it was not a challenge to fit their beautiful music into either our wedding ceremony or our reception budget. It was so easy to make song selections, and Stephanie is incredibly responsive to all questions.

I am so grateful that Stephanie and the Fretless Music team were a part of my wedding day. I'm not someone who had an entire grand vision of my wedding all my life, but I always knew that I wanted a string quartet. Stephanie was absolutely wonderful to work with- she would respond so quickly to all of my questions and I was so impressed with both the classical and modern repertoires the group could play. The planning form we used was so easy and straightforward, and we had a final call closer to our date that left me reassured we were all on the same page. Stephanie and Fretless Strings were amazing at our wedding. My only regret is that as the bride I didn’t have the opportunity to sit and listen to them the whole time they played. The songs I heard during the cocktail hour were amazing – including some special requests that they had just added to their repertoire for this wedding. And, when I heard them start to play “What a Wonderful World” as my bridesmaids walked in, I teared up from the beauty of it. I heard many compliments from my guests as well, including relatives who are musicians themselves. Also, they were the best vendor I worked with from the perspective of feeling assured everything would work out well before the wedding. Stephanie's responses were fast and full of warmth. Finally, hiring them is more economical than you may think! If you are watching your music budget, I highly suggest hiring them (which will cost you less than most DJs), since you can easily Spotify your own playlist for dancing later but the beauty of this live music is something you cannot create yourself.

Planning a wedding is already stressful enough; especially when you are not in the same state as your wedding venue. We all get the list of “recommended vendors” and mine included some other musicians, but after looking at their social media pages, listening to their songs and seeing their arrangements, I was unimpressed. After searching on Instagram for hours in an attempt to find my perfect string quartet for my big day, I finally found Fretless Music. Talk about a dream come true, working with Stephanie was a breeze. Communicating with her was fast and easy; they have So many song choices, classical and popular songs. I was able to find everything I wanted on their song list. At the wedding, all of my guests were extremely impressed with Fretless Music and loved the arrangements. I had an immediate good feeling about them from the first time we contacted them. I looked around at other vendors but only contacted them. I think they were very well priced. Stephanie was patient with all my emails and questions, and I had a lot of questions. She was so helpful throughout the whole process and was so easy to work with. We loved the music! Stephanie was great on the day of, she arrived early to get a scope of the venue and where she was playing. We picked a variety of classical and modern songs. Several guests commented on how fun it was to hear modern songs and songs from movie soundtracks. I teared up when I first heard them begin playing our music selections as our guests began to arrive. Additionally, my mom told me later that my two year old niece had watched as Stephanie was tuning up and she began playing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Star," for her. That made me so happy, it can be the little things that make a difference! Stephanie and the musicians helped create a beautiful atmosphere for our wedding. I always knew I wanted strings at our wedding; it remains one of my favorite memories of our day. We are so happy that we picked Fretless Music!

My (now) husband and I were married just a few weeks ago and during the planning process, we were looking for a string trio to play our ceremony and cocktail hour. After much research and speaking with many different vendors, we decided to work with Stephanie and Fretless Music and we could not be happier with our decision!! Stephanie was delightful and extremely prompt in replies (something I always appreciate) while emailing. We were able to pick all songs for the ceremony and cocktail from their extensive repertoire, both classic, modern and even some from beloved musicals/movies! And if there is a song/s you would like to have played that are not on the current repertoire, they will happily learn it to play! We received numerous compliments from guests on how beautiful they sounded, especially after they played the Game of Thrones theme song at cocktail hour (big GOT fans). I was even able to choose from different tempos of Canon in D to walk down the aisle to. We had a nice chat a week or two before the big day to make sure everything was on track and everyone was on the same page, even though I always felt Stephanie was an email away if I had any questions! I would HIGHLY recommend Stephanie and her group if you are looking for extremely talented musicians and truly lovely people! I have already given their contact information to friends and family who are planning weddings :)

Fretless Strings performed at my ceremony and cocktail hour in early November, and they were phenomenal. I hired the trio and worked with Stephanie before the wedding. She was organized, helpful, responsive and had great suggestions. She provided me with a long list of songs to choose from for the ceremony which was super helpful. There was a song I wanted that was not on the list, but she had the music and made sure to play it during the ceremony. Their musical skills were phenomenal and many guests said how great they were. Stephanie was very patient and helpful. Working with them was so easy and fun. They met with me beforehand at the venue and took calls and responded to emails promptly. They are also affordable. I highly recommend them!

Stephanie, is a professional sweet violinist we had the greatest chance to work with on an engagement proposal. Music was incredible, and coordinating about the songs was really convenient and easy with her. She had some additional suggestions that we were happy to add them to our list. Bidding price was highly competitive and definitely reasonable. In addition we had the chance to be with her who is an enjoyable soul to have at that special moment to chat with while enjoying the live music. She also work with us and the photographer very closely and we are really appreciating what she has done for us.

We hired a trio to perform at our wedding ceremony in September. I don't like to call myself a bridezilla, but I am organized and I usually know what I want when I see it. In this case, I knew I wanted Fretless as soon as I saw their website and heard their sample music. Their website was well organized and provided a good amount of sample music to help with our decision. Samples included both classical and modern, as well as with the different numbers of musicians. I was completely sold after corresponding with Stephanie via email. She is very personable, on top of it, and I never had to chase her for responses to my questions. She made it so easy and kept me organized throughout the music selection process. We received a complimentary song request that wasn't on their current playlist and this made our ceremony even more special. We received many compliments from our guests on how well the musicians played. I can't thank Stephanie and her team enough for making our day so special!

Stephanie played violin at our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. She was extremely responsible and responsive throughout the planning process. She had a very nice music list with both pop and classic violin tunes for us to pick from, which made our life much easier. We had a special requirement for some Chinese songs and Ghibli music, which she never played before. She was able to find all these songs quickly and practiced with her piano partner to make sure they turn out beautifully at the event. She also sent us two demo recordings ahead of time for us to practice our walking at our rehearsal dinner. The wedding turned out to be elegant and beautiful, and Stephanie was a big part of the success. Many guests remembered her passion and smile besides the wonderful music. We highly recommend her for any type of event.

Hiring Fretless Strings was the best decision I made for my wedding! All my guest were amazed by the music they played. They especially loved "God's Plan!" I had a great experience with Stephanie as our solo violinist. She was prompt in responding to me, she was friendly and professional throughout the process. I love her sound and her selection of songs. We did our recessional to a Zelda theme song which I found super neat and unique. She brings her own equipment to amplify herself if you can't afford a full quartet or trio. Her sound filled the room and was wonderful.

My wife and I had the pleasure of having Stephanie Young and her cello accompanist provide the music for our wedding ceremony in downtown Chicago. I hired Stephanie to play a violin solo during my marriage proposal on a recent winters evening in Chicago. Fretless Strings did a phenomenal job giving us exactly what we dreamed of for our cocktail hour! I am a huge Disney fan, so needless to say I wanted Disney music for our friends and family to enjoy just as much as I knew I would. Stephanie went above and beyond with this task. She asked me to send her a list of my favorite Disney songs and she would do her best to accommodate us. After I sent her the list, she informed me that since we decided on a trio and that most of the songs were in quartet form, that she would have to make some adjustments to the music so I could have the songs I chose. She took hours doing that for me and was able to make all of my songs work. She got back to me in timely matters and was SUPER easy and nice to work with! The Disney music performed by Fretless Strings was the only piece of Disney I incorporated into my wedding and it was the perfect! She knew that Beauty and the Beast was my favorite Disney movie so she made sure the songs from the movie were played when my husband and I were greeting our guest so I was able to hear them. When I heard "Be Our Guest" (my absolute fav) I looked over and Stephanie was looking at me, playing the violin, with this huge smile on her face! Needless to say, that Fretless Strings is HIGHLY recommended. We got nothing but compliments about the music during cocktail hour and Stephanie is a very professional woman that takes her job very seriously! Thor and Stephanie of Bowtime did such a wonderful job providing beautiful music for our ceremony! From the beginning, they were very involved and helpful with all of the different details we needed to work through related to the music for our big day. They were very accommodating with all of our requests and were very quick to respond to any of our questions and concerns. The best part with having Bowtime perform at our wedding was that they played exactly what we wanted! We didn't really want the traditional wedding sound and wanted music that better fit our personalities. They played Adele, Guns N' Roses, The Legend of Zelda theme, and many other great songs. So many of our guests have asked if there are any recordings of the music the played! You won't be disappointed if you choose Bowtime to play for your event!

I planned my own wedding, and working with Stephanie was the best decision I made! Having to decide on every wedding vendor can take a lot of effort, but don’t worry with this choice. You will be more than satisfied. Stephanie was extremely professional and prompt for all correspondences and for the wedding. Her attention to detail, including where she should sit at the ceremony, helping me coordinate the music, and other small yet important details, was greatly appreciated. Last but definitely not least, she is an amazing and talented violinist. We called upon the talents of Bowtime (violin and marimba) for our wedding in Milwaukee, and were VERY pleased with all our communications and the beautiful music provided. I admit, as the bride I don't remember hearing the music as much as I'd like, but guests raved over the fun songs setting the mood. Stephanie worked up a special request for our processional (Florence & the Machine) and I was so pleased to hear our song. Bowtime performed beautifully during my wedding ceremony. Stephanie was excellent with communication prior to the event. She let me know exactly what was required in order to perform to the best of their ability. I received so many compliments from my guests.

I wanted a string group to perform during my son's baptism reception. I chose Fretless Strings and requested they play their contemporary set of music. With three people playing, I was amazed at the sound- it filled the entire banquet hall. This is a group of VERY talented women, who are professional, responsive and accommodating. The music added the perfect touch and truly exceeded the expectations I had.

I hope I have the occasion to book them again. It was an honor to have them perpform for such a special day.

We wanted to hear some of our favorite bands on classical instruments for our wedding ceremony. Fretless Strings was an excellent choice. We are so happy we chose them to be part of our big day. Stephanie was very easy to work with and she was flexible with our schedule considering the fact that we were planning a wedding in Illinois all the way from NYC.

Guests were coming up to us after the ceremony saying how they loved hearing modern songs on classical instruments. We provided Stephanie with a set list that included Edith Piaf, U2, Etta James, Coldplay, Lupe Fiasco and Pharell.

Stephanie did an amazing job with a live performance at our wedding. She was more than willing to accommodate for us from song selections to venue changes. She was very professional and I truly enjoyed working with her. She perfected our selection that we requested and given such a short time frame (less than 3 weeks), she was able to learn the songs with no problem. She even went out of her way to find an additional musician for my wedding after our request. She found a great banjo player that even could sing our songs! A banjo and violin duet may seem odd but was beautiful and went right along with the vibe of the entire ceremony and venue. They were on time and even stayed longer than what we agreed on due to the wedding starting later after being moved inside because of rain. They brought my wife to tears as she entered the ceremony (it was a surprise for her!). We would recommend their services to anyone else without hesitation!

Fretless Strings played at our daughter's church wedding ceremony. Stephanie was a pleasure to work with helping us choose all the classical pieces that were needed and paying attention to every detail as well as our daughter's "vision". They played before, during, and after the ceremony and it was truly breathtaking! They also accompanied our soloist for two songs, and there was not a dry eye in the church. All of our guests raved about the music and said it was the most beautiful ceremony they had ever attended. Stephanie and the others in the quartet should be commended for their talent and ability to set an elegant atmosphere which made the wedding ceremony so special and memorable.

Stephanie and Thor played during our wedding ceremony and we could not have chosen a better duo. Not only are they incredibly talented, but the combination of violin and marimba creates a unique sound that sets them apart from your traditional string quartet. They have an extensive repertoire to choose from and will even play something special to the couple if they have advance notice. Also, Stephanie is extremely organized and was very helpful in choosing the music. We appreciated how professional they both were. All of our guests were very impressed by their playing and we would recommend them to everyone we know. It was really special to have them play instead of having recorded music. I worked with Stephanie of Fretless Strings to play the cocktail hour of my reception at the Renaissance Schaumburg. Stephanie, and the group, were nothing short of amazing. From our first contact to our first meet when they played for us to sample the music, and finally when they performed for a little over an hour during cocktail reception. They were profressional, professionally dressed, handled themselves with grace, and played to the audiences delight. Stephanie Young played at my daughter's wedding on April 26, 2014. We met beforehand to "audition" her, and within minutes, I knew we had encountered a gift. We knew nothing about wedding music, and she graciously emailed us a full list of suggestions for various part of the service. Her range is incredible. We emailed her our decisions, and she assisted in fine-tuning them just a bit. We then met her for a rehearsal, where she came with everything fully prepared in a booklet, which she generously shared with the organist.

The ceremony was gentle, lovely, spiritual, holy - her exquisite, flowing strings made one close their eyes to listen, hoping the beauty would never go away. The loveliness of her music sang throughout God's house. We all feel very blessed to have met such an incredibly gifted musician - and a very nice person, too.

Stephanie at Fretless Strings coordinated the string duo for our wedding. The music selection is huge and they just so happened to play our song, "The Luckiest" which we certainly didn't expect! Stephanie was always responsive and worked with me to get our songs chosen. On our wedding day it was raining and because string instruments can't be played outside they played inside and were mic'ed so that we could hear the music they were playing as they sat right inside the doors. I consider this extremely flexible as you never know what weather may be like. We were so pleased! Bottom line: very reliable and easy to work with! And most importantly, beautiful music!

Two of my daughters got married within 11 months of each other in the past year. One of the first things I suggested was to have a string quartet play during the ceremony. For the first wedding, my daughter picked out classical wedding music which was so beautiful. It added such elegance to the ceremony. My second daughter picked out modern songs which helped reflect her personality so well. I was extremely impressed at how different but equally beautiful the music was at each ceremony. Fretless Strings Quartet handled both ceremonies with professionalism and ease, making both events exquisite and memorable. My wife and I chose Bowtime to play our ceremony music at our wedding in Madison, WI. They exhibited every possible good quality you can imagine from professional musicians. Amazingly talented, on time, well dressed, self-sufficient (as in, they needed minimal guidance from us to know exactly what, where, when they should be playing)...the list goes on. Our favorite part of the whole experience was how they were able to accomodate every musical request we had. My wife and I had some very specific songs (not classical at all) we wanted played and Bowtime was able to turn them into music appropriate for a wedding ceremony.

I will recommend Bowtime to friends and family, and I will go with them again when we need some live music!
