Music For The Living Earth
Jahnavi Veronica and Galen Hefferman weave their songs together with haunting vocal harmonies, plucked and bowed strings, percussion, and the voices of those who show up – creating soundscapes rooted in dreams and communications with nature.
They make music as a way to give gifts to all who hear them, to the land they stand on, and to the clear stars above.
Their music could be described as freak folk, or dreamy folk. They excel in situations where people engage with the lyrics and let the music wash over them. They don’t do well in situations where people are not interested in listening.

We are a folk duo, who can also bring other musicians when the budget allows.
For the two of us, you will often find us bringing quite a few acoustic instruments along with both our voices-
Cello, Viola, Oud, Baglama Saz, Guitar, Frame Drums, and when we have a more filled out stage, upright bass, piano, and more percussion.
We joke sometimes that we are the smallest eight person band you have ever seen.
We are on the quiet side, focused listening time suits us better than noisy bars. We can bring our own amplification but will need more sound support for larger venues.
Our songs are all original.
Jahnavi Veronica and Galen Hefferman (based in Oregon) weave their songs together with haunting vocal harmonies, plucked and bowed strings, percussion, and the willing voices of those who show up – creating soundscapes rooted in dreams and communications with nature.
They seek to create songs that can be a balm for challenging times, to transform and revive, and to open to a full hearted life, twisting the fibers of the dream world and the living world into one, speaking from the underground rivers that feed the springs that jump forth from wild willed places.
They make music as a way to give gifts to all who hear them, to the land they stand on, and to the clear stars above.
For small venues, we can bring our own sound equipment to amplify. For anything larger than a 30 person event, we will require a PA system, in general, although we do like to sing into live air without sound support if everyone is quiet enough to allow us to be heard.
We have mics, we bring all our instruments.
We need one grounded power outlet.
Please let us know if you have chairs available for us to sit in, or we will bring our own.
We don't have lighting equipment besides some string lights, so whatever suits the event best will be provided by you.
We need at least an area big enough to fit the two of us and at least four instruments, including a cello, and a place to put instrument cases.
We generally need a half hour to set up at least.

Jason Webley was a huge influence on both of us, with his storytelling and bardic ways
We owe a lot to the musical traditions of Ireland, as well as Classical Persian music and Turkish and Arabic Folk music.
Bjork is a huge influence.
Particularly, we are heavily influenced by singer Alim Qasimov.
We feel solidly aligned with rooted musical traditions around the world, and bards through time.
PA System if larger venue
grounded power outlet
lighting appropriate for the event
place to store instrument cases
parking near the venue to load in
