Professional solo bagpiper servicing funerals, weddings, and special events.
From the initial inquiry to having him play at the graveside service, Gene was professional and thoughtful and made excellent suggestions for order of service. His contribution was indeed ‘impactful’ and made the event more memorable. So grateful we chose Gene through fGigSalad.
Hired Gene to play for a funeral. During the hiring process he was responsive, professional, and helpful in determining what to play during the burial. He made sure he arrived well before the event and sought to make sure he was doing what we wanted for our father. We couldn’t be more pleased with his performance.
I appreciated that he showed up 15 minutes before our agreed-upon time. He looked sharp and did a great job!
The surprise bagpipe performance by Gene was such a special experience at our company retreat. He is very professional, talented and attuned to our group - including learning all ten of our names! He taught us some history, explained how the pipes work and of course played amazing music for us as we gathered around a fire pit at sundown.
My family wanted a bagpiper for my mother’s private gravesite service and I’m very grateful our paths crossed with Gene Robertson. He was so professional from our first contact. Quite a blessing at such a difficult time. His shared his experience helped me make informed decisions about the music, and partnered well with the deacon. His music and presence could not have been more perfect. He turned a simple ceremony into an extraordinary experience. Thank you very much, Gene.
Gene played Amazing Grace on bagpipes graveside at my mother's Memorial Services ~ it was beautiful! Thank you so much Gene for making the graveside service very special and memorable!
Gene is a genuine kind hearted soul! Exceeded our company's expectations, an absolute delight to work and converse with. Very flexible with requests and will go above and beyond. Most importantly he supports local businesses! Highly recommended!
Thank you Gene for being a part of my Dads memorial , we felt your heart to honor him through the art of playing the bagpipes. Your tribute touched our hearts deeply . It was easy to see that you put your whole heart into touching peoples lives with your music. The memory of that day will stay with me forever . Blessings !!
Response from Gene Robertson:
Shae, your family showed such unity and compassion for each other and I am humbled to have been part of your father’s ceremony. I enjoyed hearing the stories of your father. To my understanding, he lived a life that inspires others to live life to the fullest, as he did.
As President of the Board of Directors for Colorado River Fire Rescue I had numerous opportunities to witness Gene’s amazing skill at organizing a meaningful ceremony that was punctuated with his talent as a Piper. Two of these involved the End of Watch ceremonies for two active duty members who passed just a month apart as a result of cancer and CRFR’s first ever change of command ceremony. Gene’s mastery, skill and attention to detail really showed our membership how special it is to be apart of the brotherhood of Firefighters.
He is always willing to share this beautiful music in honor of someone’s passing. He brings an authentic personal touch to any gathering.
Gene is a terrific bagpiper, and always makes himself available for important events in the community.
Response from Gene Robertson:
Thank you Frank. Grand Junctions turkey trot is a great way to bring the community together. You are great to work with on this event.
Gene was the only Piper in the state willing to play at my fathers funeral due to the cold weather. Having a piper play Amazing Grace was my my dads only request. When Gene started playing my heart crumbled because I knew how happy it would have made my dad. I have since listened to any recording I can find of Gene's playing as he is such an incredible artist, I absolutely love his music. The man also has a heart of gold and can really be a great addition to any event. Thank you so much Gene for making one of the hardest days of my life just a little easier.
Response from Gene Robertson:
Thank you Moe. I was deeply saddened to hear the news of such a great man passing. I am grateful that I was selected to be the piper for your family and personally am thankful for the opportunity to give honors to a larger than life man.
Gene played the bagpipes at my father’s memorial service earlier this month & it is the one thing I will always remember about that day.
It was a beautiful tribute. Gene is an amazing person & bagpiper. I highly recommend him. Thank you, Gene. April
Response from Gene Robertson:
I am humbled and honored to have been the piper for your family.
Gene graciously played celebratory songs for my dear friend as she walked out of her final chemotherapy treatment. He even went the extra mile and brought in a drummer to play along side him. Gene is overflowing with heart and passion, not only for the art of bagpiping, but for the joy it brings into peoples lives. He touched a lot of people that day, and every day. The most beautiful thing about Genes art, is that he does not perform for himself, he is selfless, performing solely to honor those he plays for.
Response from Gene Robertson:
That was an amazing day. She showed so much strength and I loved seeing all of the friends and family supporting her as she walked out. From the nursing staff to the family, it was amazing to see the love and support. I am happy to have been part of such a wonderful celebration.
I’ll be honest, I don’t know the first thing about bagpipes, so take this review with a grain of salt. What I do know for certain, however, is that this man playing his pipes is the closest any music has ever come to touching my heart. His music touched my heart so much actually, that my heart started leaking right out of my eyeballs.
This happened to me not once, but twice actually. Gene played his pipes at my grandfather’s church service and at his veteran memorial service and I ugly cried through both of them. While these events were difficult for me and for my family, there was something so beautifully captured by Gene’s performance that could be felt deeply in the heart by all.
Gene is professional and polite. You’d never regret hiring him. But most importantly, you’ll never get the experience. The man is talented. And that last part was an understatement.
Response from Gene Robertson:
Sometimes we just don’t have the poetic words to express our deepest emotions. Each of us navigate our raw emotions differently. I am humbled by your words and I’m thankful for them. I strive to help the healing process through the music I play. I am so thankful to have been given the honor to be the piper for your grandfather.
Gene is a skilled bagpiper. Who takes great pride in every aspect of the presentation, from the uniform to the magic of nostalgia as he brings history to life. Gene is one of a kind and we are fortunate to of had Gene play the pipes for us.
Gene Robertson plays the bagpipes like a master! I had the priviledge to listen to his music during two very sad events. Gene's playing definitely made the family of two lost ones feel like their loved one was important and respected.
A player that really cares about the details of a performance. Outstanding sound perfect cadence with an amazing sound.
Gene played at a memorial service for my grandfather last summer. At a time when our family was grieving, Gene’s music was a beautiful way to pay tribute to him. We were too upset to think about song choices, so we left it to him. And he really came through! It somehow struck the perfect balance between the sorrow and hope that we felt that day. His traditional piper outfit lent an air of authenticity to his performance that’s hard to find.
Gene was respectful and kind. He is very knowledgeable about the fascinating history of bagpipes. I would recommend for any occasion.
Bagpiped for a team building exercise, I've seen Gene play at few events and everytime he goes above and beyond to please the crowd. Beautiful Bagpiper, will be an amazing addition to any event.
Response from Gene Robertson:
That was a great day in the high desert for the team!
