Greg is a solo singer-songwriter performer specializing in Texas Blues/Americana genres with his significant style of guitar picking and harmonica playing. He plays new and original music he has written over the last 18 years as well as covers ranging from Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson, and Guy Clark, to name a few. He can play for people to listen or as a background musician to help create a welcoming and fun environment for whatever the event requires. Can be hired for 1 to 3 hours. Can also get a band together if wanted.
He is not one to take on-spot requests for songs outside of his wheelhouse but could learn requested songs in advance for specific events.
Greg has played shows from NYC to Hollywood, California and has had the honor to share the stage with artist like James McMurtry, Joe Ely, Monte Montgomery, Bob Schneider, Gary Louris, Rhett Miller, The Gourds, Shiny Rib, The O's, The Trishas, Slobberbone, Sorta to name a few.
Schroeder released his first solo record in 2008. The album "Songs for a Bluebird" was recorded at Cedar Creek Studio in, Austin. Musicians on the album include Scott Davis, and Cody Foote both currently playing in Hayes Carll's band. In 2011 Greg released his second solo album the selftitled "Schroeder." Well recieved by local papers and fans it was recorded at Junius Recording Co. in Dallas, TX. Co-produced by Schroeder and Christopher Carmichael it included performances from local musicians in the bands The King Bucks, Polyphonic Spree, and Grant Jones and the Pistol Grip Lassos.
In October 2014, Schroeder did a LIVE recording at Hotel Cafe in Los Angeles and self-released the album.
His shows are dedicated to the respect of the song and fans but not being too serious to have fun.
Can bring own small Bose sound system for events, if required.
