Hanka Sings (aka Hanka G) is known as a world renowned Jazz Vocalist who has toured the world singing with renowned jazz musicians and recorded numerous albums that highlight her extraordinary talent as a soulful and active NYC jazz vocalist with a unique ability to blend her Slovak roots with Jazz, Gospel and R&B.

Acknowledged by her mentor Cassandra Wilson as "the best of the next generation", Hanka is a New York City based Jazz singer and lyricist originally from the country of Slovakia where she first heard and fell in love with the American jazz masters we all know and love. One of the decade’s hottest rising stars and talented jazz singers on the scene today, Hanka emits her powerfully sensitive, soulful, jazz and gospel-flavored vocals into each of her live and recorded performances. Respected by musicians in the U.S. and World Jazz scene, Hanka has recorded her own works, fusing Slovak Folk music with Jazz, Soul, R&B, & Gospel, and performs with her band to delighted audiences wherever she travels. She has recorded and performed around the world with such jazz luminaries as, Lonnie Plaxico, Anthony Wonsey, Taru Alexander, Neal Caine, Essiet Okon Essiet, and Reggie Workman.

The daughter of professors of Geology, Hanka was born in Slovakia and spent her childhood years in the Gobi-Mongolian desert with her parents. Some of the first melodies she learned were Mongolian and that experience left a profound mark on her life. Besides being a professor, her father sang and played guitar and loved American Rock ‘n Roll. After the 1989 revolution that finally rid her parents’ country of communism, Slovakia opened its doors to the world and Hanka became especially fond of American music, in particular, the sound of Motown! During her university studies (and after a short stay in the United States), she won a grant from a Slovak music organization to record her debut album and was given the opportunity to work with some of the best well-known musicians in Slovakia.
