Haley Patillo was born to Christian songwriter David Patillo, who immersed her in music from a young age on his concert tours. Her parents homeschooled their children and enrolled them in music lessons. At about age 13, while overcoming a year of mental illness, Haley became fascinated with classical music and aspired to attend college. She earned an Associate of Arts in Music from Texarkana College, a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Henderson State University, and a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from Stephen F. Austin State University.
Patillo has sung as a soloist with the Texarkana Regional Chorale, Henderson State University Concert Choir, and Stephen F. Austin State University Choral Union. She sang the role of Amahl in Menotti's opera Amahl and the Night Visitors. She has given recitals for the AR-TX Music Connection, Texarkana College, and University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana. Additionally, she serves as a guest musician for many kinds of events and churches.
Patillo has taught voice, piano, music appreciation and music theory at the University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana, Messenger College, and Texarkana First Baptist School of Worship Arts. She serves as Associate Director of Music for Williams Memorial United Methodist in Texarkana, Texas. She enjoys music history, music theory, hymns and sacred music of all genres, astronomy, sign language, scripture memorization, and drinking hot tea with her husband, Hollis Thompson, who is a writer, english professor at UAHT, and the director of the Biblical Drama Institute.
