Candy has been coined "Seattle's Sensually Soulful Singer", "a caring artist", "Girl Next Door." Candy attributes her natural ability to sing R&B by her being a native of South Carolina- the region of Piedmont Blues, and a Gullah-speaking culture (indigenous only in the Lowcountry). Her family was her first musical influence.

Candy shares,"It was common after Sunday dinner, retiring to the front porch, where up to twenty-plus family members, such as, her parents, grandparents, uncles/aunts(even Great & Great-Great), and cousins, would play spoons or harmonica, dancing the blues shuffle while listening to someone singing a spiritual, a James Brown tune(born in her hometown, from where his dancing style originated), or everyone joining in on singing and dancing to "Polk Salad Annie." Her first fan was her Grand Daddy. This means so much as Candy was brutally tortured by her fathers incest, beatings, threats of death, & degradation for 13 years of her childhood. She had no voice because it frightened her to have one. Just before her Grand Daddy passed away, he asked her to sing him a song. Filled with shyness, 10 year old Candy could not pass up singing for him and she sang her most authentic, soulful manner with enormous pride as she had been asked by the Patriarch, the only family member with the gifted knowledge of playing instruments. It's not a surprise audiences in the Pacific Northwest are intrigued and entranced by her "foreign" sound of a southern dialect that seems natural and effortless. One fan explains, "It's like she is possessed by her haunted past and the healing of a southern witch doctor, yet, can sing any style she wants to....but still haunting when she improvises or singing jazz or blues. When not working on music, Candy is devoted to her husband (Michael), two son's (Trais & Taran), and her new shelter baby, Lady Evy. She is active in advocating for victim's of violence by empowering them to speak their truth through artistic expression through her founding the nonprofit, iDONTdoSILENT. She loves to cook fine cuisine & southern soul food.
