Be the first to review James and Lisa Sparks
Price Range: $200 and up
James is an accomplished guitar player and sings, and Lisa sings and plays either drums, mandolin, or keys depending on the occasion. They sing both originals and covers. They are available for the following opportunities:
1. Church/ministry events
James and Lisa are primarily music evangelists. Lisa is a credentialed minister with the Assemblies of God and has a passion for preaching God's Word. We are especially passionate about end times prophecy and believe we are living in the last days. We are looking for ministry opportunities in churches, conferences, and other ministry events to minister in song and music. Music would include original music as well worship songs.
2. Fairs/festivals
We are also available to perform a variety of music, both originals and covers, at festivals, fairs, and other venues. We sing a variety of styles, although our primary genre is country. We also enjoy a lot of the older songs and some bluegrass.
3. Weddings
We are still newlyweds ourselves and are hopeless romantics. We provided the entertainment for our own wedding and one of our studio recorded songs, "Dance With Me," was written to be a first dance song for a wedding. We are available to sing and play at weddings.
James' story is one of humble beginnings. His roots trace back to a small coal camp in West Virginia called Allen Junction, nestled between two mountains and the Guyandotte River. Despite its obscurity, some people found beauty in the Appalachian mountains and called it home.
His love for music was instilled in him at young age. His grandparents took him to the small Pentecostal church in town every Sunday, and one night during a lively church meeting, someone placed a guitar in his hands and sent him up to play. Although he had never been taught, he found that he could play, and that God had given him a gift of music.
James played with many bands and on many stages over the years. He played mostly in Florida and up and down the East coast. However, in 2012 he lost someone he was very close to. This difficult time in his life left him feeling stuck for a decade. However, in 2021 he decided it was time to put his grief behind him and he wrote and recorded his first song in years called "Movin' On."
Not long after, James met Lisa. Lisa also has a musical background. She is the oldest of eight children, all who were homeschooled and taught to sing in harmony from an early age. When Lisa was ten, her mom taught her the tenor part to "For Unto Us a Child is Born." Her dad sang bass, her mom sang soprano, and her little sister sang alto. As more children were born, they all learned to sing also, and eventually the family could sing 19 selections from Handel's "Messiah."
Lisa married at the age of 17 and had six children by the time she was 26, but that marriage ended in divorce. Although that time in her life was very difficult, she grew very close to God and felt a call to go into ministry and began seeking credentials through the Assemblies of God.
When James and Lisa met, she was still recovering from the divorce, but James' music and laughter brought light into her life. Their love grew quickly, and they got married the next year. Soon they began creating their own music together. At the time, Lisa worked for the Illinois State Police, but when her youngest son graduated from high school and left for college, they decided to take a leap of faith and pursue an evangelistic music ministry. They bought a fifth-wheel travel trailer, sold all of their belongings that wouldn't fit in it, and quit their jobs to move to Branson, MO. Over the past year, they've worked at some of the local attractions while working on writing and recording their first album, "My Place in Your Story." This is a heartfelt album with six songs that speak of not just their stories but also the bigger Story of which their stories play only a small part. The album was released on all major platforms on July 10th.
We are flexible and can adjust our show according to your needs and set up. We have our own Passport sound system that we can bring with us if you need a sound system and would only need a place to plug in, or we can adapt to what you already have. If you don't have any power at all, we can play an unplugged version. For our original songs, we can either use backtracks if you have a sound system connected to a computer to plug a thumb drive in, or we can play the music live. We also have a band that is available at extra cost if you want to add bass, drums, or other instruments. The band may have more limited availability and may not be able to travel far from Branson.
