I am a professional freelance drummer and I am available for hire to perform in your live act or for studio work. I have my own recording studio and I offer recording, mixing and mastering services. My primary musical bread and butter is recording drums for people online. References available upon request. Pricing is based on the project and I would love the opportunity to work with you.
James MacDonald is an exceptional musician that takes his job very seriously, and is quite versatile.
James has filled the drum seat for The Dog Catchers on more than a dozen dates, and more recently, a freeform improvisational experiment within a guitar/bass/drums trio context.
A team player, James is polite, easy to get along with and always punctual. James can be hired with confidence to show up on time, and do an expert job once there.
Response from James MacDonald:
Thank you Bob. It is always a pleasure to make music with you and The Dog Catchers.
Price Range: $100 and up.

I am always prompt, professional and, when time allows, I am always well prepared but I don't mind flying by the seat of my pants when filling in on the fly; it just doesn't stress me out and I love a good challenge as one must when you work as a freelance musician.
I price my services per-project and I am honest and very fair.
I am very agreeable and do not like to rock the boat and never try to upstage anyone with my personality or my playing.
I will only bring the absolute necessary gear for a session.

My first introduction to the world of drums was at four years of age when my older brother got a beautiful 4-piece Ludwig kit in red glitter for Christmas. I couldn't stop staring at it and when he was away I would go to town banging on it. This went on for about a year until my parents sold the kit because my brother was no longer interested in it. At 9 years of age I joined the school symphonic band and began a formal education in percussive studies. I played all throughout my middle and high school years in symphonic, stage, jazz and marching bands. I also moonlighted with local country, rock and jazz bands from time to time throughout high school. My college education isn't related to music however, I've continued to play with many bands throughout my life. Growing up in Austin, Texas in the 90's was an incredible experience. I worked as a freelance drummer for many years and made a wonderful living at it at the time. I met my wife in 1999 and we moved to Vermont in 2003. I am currently in one band, Midnight Vigil. I do freelance gigs, recording projects, run & manage my studio; Hilltop Drum Studio, and my own record label; Big Tusker Records. I love freelance work although it's just not as abundant in Central Vermont as it was back home in Austin. Travel, within reason, is not a problem. Give me a shout to discuss your needs.
2 drum kits - Pearl Masters Studio Birch and a massive Gretsch kit (many sizes of drums for any musical situation - I only bring what is needed for a gig and hardly ever put the entire kit together (except for some occasional personal fun time)). Solid selection of Zildjian cymbals.
Lot's of random hand percussion instruments (congas, bongos... ETC).
I have a 32 track project studio with all the necessary gear for recording a full group of musicians. It is a live-room environment and we have achieved some great recordings in my studio. I invite you to come check it out sometime.

Dennis Chambers, Vinnie Colaiuta, Dave Weckl, Carter Beauford, Tony Williams... and all of the usual suspects.
Level stage with enough room to comfortably setup the drums required for the gig. If I am to play a backline kit I require that they be fully functional in that all hardware is in tact and functional and the cymbals are not cracked. The kit should be well
