John and MaryBeth’s first collaboration was the post-punk group The Mutuals, part of the late-1970’s Minneapolis scene that produced Husker Du and The Replacements. Their partnership has spanned genres from rock to electronic to cool jazz to early classical, but their main interest has always been original creative music. Some of the songs they perform with Jasperoo began in other styles but adapt perfectly to old-time. Their two albums Pandemonium and The Players Come Again display a mix of traditional and original songs, while their new EP What Is Truth is entirely original.
