He was super relaxed… and very involved. We had a large group- he made sure everyone was involved, waited for late comers, gave us a break in a middle. He also accommodated our music choices and danced with us with our cultural song after the lesson. The lesson was fun and very interactive.

John Cory Lawler is an Actor, Singer, Award-winning Dancer, and Choreographer based in Sacramento, CA
The Arizona native has had the pleasure of performing in a variety of productions across some of AZ's most engaging stages—Suze Prescott Center for the Arts, Flagstaff Theater Company, Blk Box Phx, NAU Theater, and Yavapai College Performing Arts Center, to name a few.
In 2017, Lawler became a member of the Award-winning Phoenix Bomb Squad, a competitive dance team that has since placed 1st in the 2018 Student Team Division and the 2019 Open Team Division at the National Jitterbug Championships at Camp Hollywood. Individually, he’s been awarded 1st Place at the 2022 Vegas Mixer Match and 2nd Place at the Arizona Swing Dance Championships.
Outside of traditional theater, John is an ardent dancer with a passion for swing and the history of vernacular jazz. Fascinated and inspired by solo and partner dances with African American roots, he's passionate about educating others, and welcomes every chance to learn himself.
