I draw high quality caricatures that actually resemble the people who are posing (what a concept!). I can draw up to 12 people per hour if I am working in black and white, 6-8 per hour in color. I can print a logo or slogan on the paper in advance to tie in with a specific event. My fee is $100 per hour plus a base travel fee ($25-$75). Generally there is a 3 hour minimum. I can also draw live digitally ($125 per hour). I can create gift caricatures in my studio from photographs, either in traditional media for framing, or digitally for posting or printing. I travel anywhere from Boston to Albany, Hartford to Burlington VT. I even travel to the New York metro area.
John arrived, set to quickly and went right to work entertaining our friends at the party. His artwork was very complimentary, personalized and fun! Each person walked away with the print and a huge smile! Thank you John for being the highlight of the party and a true professional!
Would highly recommend john! He is so talented! He did a ton of people during my daughter's birthday party, and everyone was so happy with their drawings! The backgrounds were all different and so creative! He even stayed late last minute, he was great!
John did an amazing job with your senior class. He was professional and highly efficient. Our students loved his work.
John was everything he said he was, very easy going, funny, and a very good artist. Lots of compliments and smiles from the participants. The whole process was easy, he showed up on time and I think he even stayed a bit later than planned. I just wished I had the time to sit to enjoy a sketch of myself but running an event tends to keep your mind on the other things as well. Was a complete pleasure and may try to use him again with future events.
John was so nice and his work is so amazing! He did my 3 grand children as Caricaturist and they came out awesome! I had my grandkids done in separate photos, when John sent me the finished photos he had also put the 3 grands together in a photo as an extra! John was able to do the Caricaturist from photos I sent him through Email and I couldn't be happier! They were done on time as promised! This is a gift for my son and daughter in law that I know they will cherish! I wouldn't hesitate to use his service again! Thank you John
John is an incredible artist and an even greater gentleman. I highly recommend him for your event.
We, along with all of our guests, were incredibly happy with John at our wedding reception. Our guests were lined up for him all night, and we’re not even sure if he stopped working for a minute. In fact, we had him stay for an extra hour and a half because he was so popular! We were hoping that John would provide a unique experience for our guests and are confident that’s exactly what he did, as they haven’t stopped talking about it since! I promise that you will not be disappointed if you decide to hire him for any event. Very professional, friendly, and reasonable.
His drawings are spot on, he had a line out the door (if we had a door :)) He was personable, easy to work with and our overall experience was wonderful!!! This is the first time we have ever had anyone like this at one of our events and I will not hesitate to have him again. Thanks John!!!
John was a big success @ our Birthday/Anniversary Party. We had 90 guests & he did a wonderful job getting people sketched. Everyone was so happy with their pictures. I wish we had two John's! I would highly recommend him.

I draw high quality caricatures that actually resemble the people who are posing (what a concept!). I can draw up to 12 people per hour if I am working in black and white, 6-8 per hour in color. I can print a logo or slogan on the paper in advance to tie in with a specific event. I generally work on 11" x 14" paper, and I provide plastic sleeves for the finished caricatures. I arrive20 minutes early for set up.
I have worked as a caricaturist for 30 years throughout New York City and New England. I have been hired to draw at events in New Orleans and Las Vegas. My primary occupation is an illustrator. I have illustrated over 140 books for children, including the A to Z Mysteries and The Bailey School Kids series. I am the author and illustrator of the picture book Dinosaur Train.
When I am drawing caricatures on paper at an event all I need is 2 chairs and a space around 5' x 5' within 20 feet of an electrical outlet for my lights (if needed). If I am working digitally I can work on my tablet connected to my laptop, which is connect to my mid sized monitor. Or I can work on my ipad. Or, I can work on your device. I can connect to your printer or your large monitor. I recommend digital caricatures for special events, such as sales promotions or trade shows. There is a certain "Wow!" factor, because people are awed by seeing the pictures come to life on a screen. But digital caricatures are slower. In most cases I think paper is the way to go for parties, weddings, Bar Mitzvah's and other events.
If you are interested in a gift caricature for framing I generally work in pencil and watercolor. I approach it was if I am creating a piece of art. The fee varies depending on the complexity of the scene, but its generally around $150 for one person, each additional person is $35. If you want the gift caricature for posting on a website, or printing on a card or tee shirt the fee can very from $50 to $200, depending on complexity, black and white or full color, usage. Just describe to me what you need and I'll give you a quote.
If I'm working on paper, all I need are two chairs. I bring my easel. If its dark, I need an outlet to plug my lights into. If I am working digitally I can work on my wacom tablet connected to my laptop, which is connect to my mid sized monitor. Or I can work on my ipad. Or, I can work on your device. I can connect to your printer or your large monitor. I can work in Photoshop, or Sketchbook Pro, or any Microsoft drawing program. I think its best if the final product is saved as a pdf and e-mailed to the person posing, but I have worked at events were they provide them on flash drives, or printed them out and gave them on paper.
