With over 8 years of credits as an international Broadway touring guitarist/multi-instrumentalist, artist in residency, and featured soloist onboard luxury cruise lines, Jonathan Hawkins, touring singer-songwriter, performs a rich, diverse repertoire of original and timeless classics steeped in American roots in jazz and early fingerstyle blues, Spanish, Brazilian, and guitar traditions of Malawi.

I perform solo guitar (with or without vocals), marked by a rhythmically-driven, upbeat fingerstyle guitar technique, with percussive tapping and grooving danceable beats. I perform a wide variety of styles, including originals and classics of jazz, blues, folk/country, Spanish, Brazilian, and classical guitar, and can cater my setlist and repertoire to your event!
I have performed in settings from the most formal corporate and private events, to house shows, storyteller shows. I can provide and transport my own sound if needed, and can deliver ambiance and entertainment for your event, whether you need music for:
-Listening Room/Concerts (w/story telling & background/history of material)
-Fine Dining/Background Music (think tea-time or lounge music)
-Winery/Brewery/Bar (interactive, requests, more upbeat, think party music)
With reasonable notice, I can make a custom setlist based on request, and fingerstyle guitar arrangements of pop hits :).
Jonathan Hawkins is a guitarist, multi-instrumentalist, and career performer. With roots in American, Brazilian, Spanish, and Malawian guitar traditions, Hawkins comes from a richly diverse musical background in jazz, blues, country/folk, and contemporary styles. An early student of jazz and classical styles, Jonathan received recognition through a John Phillip Sousa Award, multiple Berklee Achievement Scholarships, and the honor of Magna Cum Laude upon graduation at Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor's Degree in Professional Performance on Guitar.
Jonathan has spent the better part of the last 10 years as a traveling pit orchestra guitarist, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele player on Broadway musical tours such as Mamma Mia! Farewell Tour, Woody Allen's Bullets Over Broadway 1st National Tour, and Flashdance the Musical 3rd Nat'l Tour. Additional credits include production show and featured soloists spots on luxury cruise lines, and artist-in-residency programs in musical theatre, including the Studio Theatre in downtown DC. Notable solo performances include the famous Bitter End in NYC, live performances on NPR's WOUB partner station, WV Winter Music Festival, and on regional/national tours.
Jonathan resides in the greater DC area, and performs regularly for musical theatre productions, and as a soloist for jazz, fingerstyle guitar, and pop-folk performances.
I can provide sound for small to medium venues, possibly larger depending on the room and crowd. I can provide mic stand/music stands/cables/mic, etc.
Speakers are 2x 12"600w active speakers, with or without speaker stands. I can provide additional sound reinforcement if needed.
If plugging into house sound, I will require an XLR input for a microphone, and 1/8th" line cable (guitar cable) input for guitar.
