Gig Length: 30 - 60 minutes

Karla's wide repertoire includes mixing humor with the topics she covers. In addition to a Doctorate in Christian Education, she's also graduated from the school of hard knocks. Karla knows what it means to pull yourself up by your bootstraps and start again and again. Her original music can be a part of her presentation, but her presentation is just as effective on its own. She can present with or without visuals, costumes, or props. She has valuable experience in flexibility and can accommodate any presentation need, large or small.
Karla Akins is the author of A Pair of Miracles, the story of raising her twin sons with autism.
Akins is also the author of several history books for homeschoolers including O Canada Her Story, Sacagawea, and Jacques Cartier. Her work has also been published in The Old Schoolhouse Magazine and Happy Sis Magazine. Her first novel, The Pastor’s Wife Wears Biker Boots, includes a character with autism.
She's also a special education teacher and an ardent fan of her seven grandchildren.
When she's not writing, Akins enjoys riding her motorcycle, sipping chai lattes, and snuggling with her three dogs and two cats.
If music is part of the presentation, Karla will need a keyboard, or she can provide her own. Electricity will be necessary as well as a microphone, monitor speakers and time for a sound check.
For presentations that use PowerPoint, a visual adapter may be needed for the computer, depending on the projector.
A projector for the PowerPoint will be needed.
A blank wall or screen will be needed for projecting the PowerPoint.
If sales are allowed, a table and chairs for book sales will be needed.
