Kathryn Satoh Violinist

I have worked countless wedding ceremonies and events for 15+ years. If hired, I ask specific questions regarding my affected timeline and repertoire asked, in order to appropriately quote and contract the event.

Expect punctual set-up, no surprises (having already discussed these details ahead of time), thorough communication, and quality performance of repertoire previously agreed upon.

Kathryn Satoh is impassioned by genuine and purposeful human connectivity, and uses these characteristics to drive her artistic career. Ms. Satoh is co-founder and violinist of her primary ensemble Bow & Hammer, curating new performance series which affirm the relevance of classical music in mainstream social interaction. Through their original concert series, “Industry Night” and “Élevé”, BH has cultivated close collaborative relationships with other artists and small businesses and has held local and international residencies (Italy, Canada) to develop their communal mission. A collaborator to the core, she sees chamber music as a timeless manifestation of social progress.

Ms. Satoh jumps at any opportunity to alter her perception of being a musician. Trained as a vocalist and violinist, she has worked with theaters, opera companies, composers, poets, actors, and multi-disciplinary companies to premiere, preserve, or adapt works of diverse genres ranging from cabaret bar songs to large scale symphonic orchestral repertoire. These endeavors have put her on stage with Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Grant Park Music Festival Chorus, Third Eye Theater Ensemble, and Mozawa, among other artists and companies.

Highly regarding her value as a communicator and advocate for the arts, Ms. Satoh is an active teaching artist. She holds faculty and administrative positions at Naperville School of Performing Arts, and maintains a private violin studio throughout Chicagoland. With Bow & Hammer, she acts as a guest lecturer and collaboration coach, and has individually adjudicated various festivals and competitions.
Ms. Satoh holds two Bachelor of Music degrees with distinction from the University of Colorado in Violin and Voice Performance under the teaching of Lina Bahn (Corigliano Quartet) and Patrick Mason. In the rare spare moment, she loves to read/watch memoirs, eat home-cooked meals (made by herself or others; she is non-discriminant), be outdoors, and embark on adventures with friends.

I bring my own instrument and stand typically.

I have capability to plug into an event space's PA system, through DI box or 1/4" cable jack.
