Hiring a Belly Dancer 101: First, we'll discuss your event and ways I can enhance it. I’ll explain about different music choices, prop options, costuming colors, etc. Feel free to ask me any questions in return, from my past experiences with events like yours to how I’ll troubleshoot your particular concerns. We’ll agree on a length of time, and then I’ll offer you a rate. If you agree it’s reasonable and the deposit is made, I’m locked into your event no matter who else contacts me for the same date/time. Then, I’ll be in contact the week of the performance to go over any last minute details and confirm the date and time.

I arrive usually 15-30 minutes ahead of time in costume with a cover-up over it, and I usually arrive with a partner if I’ll need help setting up sound equipment, special props, etc. I ask that you have some safe room/area designated for me to place personal belongings. If I arrive with a partner, you won’t have to worry about a thing. If I don’t, the only thing you may have to do if I’m a surprise for the audience is give my prepared iPod or CD to the D.J., unless it’s a band to whom you’ll give my prepared written music selection. Then, it’s SHOWTIME!

After the customized show, I’ll ask you if you need or want pictures before I head back to the private area to change and/or gather my things. The balance of payment is due at the end of the performance in cash. Then, we’ll handshake goodbye, though usually I’m exuberantly hugged!

Seven years after entering her first class as a teenager, Katie began performing in 2007. Her resume soon included everything from small, intimate gatherings to large corporate events. Examples include Cablevision, Apple Valley Television, Western Massachusetts Living show, The Eastern States Exposition aka The Big E, Lebanese festivals, Connecticut College, University of Hartford, Eastern Connecticut State College, UCONN, Naugatuck Valley Community College, Trinity College, as well as various restaurants, hookah bars, and private parties. Her reputation continues to grow, winning her People’s Choice at the Boston Belly Dance Competition and earning her a slot on a prestigious international entertainment company. Her love of people, dance, and celebrations energizes her creativity which in turns inspires her audiences with tremendous performances.

Her teaching career began as a way to share the transformative and interactive fun of belly dance. Often teaching up to 7 classes a week, Katie focuses on safe and authentic technique while also burning calories and embracing yourself. Katie believes it is a teacher’s responsibility to light each student’s path and share all of belly dance’s secrets.
