Katie did a great job of providing an excellent performance during the ceremony with little instruction. With torrential rain and floods surrounding the venue, she was still able to make it on time and display great flexibility when last minute changes were made.
Katie was most pleasant to work with and we loved having her perform at our wedding. She was extremely flexible and worked very hard to find the music we desired on a short timeline. She always made it a point to communicate quickly and effectively, making it a stress-free process. Katie goes above and beyond to meet all expectations and we were EXTREMELY blessed to have her for our special day. She not only does what is required but willingly goes the extra mile to assure only the best quality. I have been said to play with a very rich, mellow tone. My cello is very rich and deep, making playing and listening more enjoyable for myself and others. I am extremely expressive and tend to get very into the music I am playing; I will move with my cello occasionally if the music is particularly touching to me. My music,as I have been told, has made others cry. My teacher has described my cello sound as "juicy" (her words).
I am Katie Westenberg, and I play mainly classical music. However, I do quite well with improvisation, custom, and alternative music. My prices are NEGOTIABLE. I generally start at $30 an hour. I will work my way up on price depending on the difficulty and time consumption. I am very easy to work with, and very friendly. I am happy to be a solo cellist for an event, but I work well with other players too if I am expected to play in an ensemble. I live in downtown Springfield, Missouri, but I am more than willing to drive anywhere and would prefer to be compensated on gas prices. I have played in the Springfield Youth Symphony as first chair cellist for several years, and I had the highest audition score out of all of the cellists in the state of Missouri for the Missouri Youth All-State Orchestra in (phone number hidden)1. I am 20 years old.
I have many different pieces I can choose from my large library of cello repertoire. If I am given a genre of music that is wanted for me to play, then I will look online or in my reserves to find what genre works best for you. I am very versatile. If there are certain songs that you want me to play, then I can do it. If the music is left up to me, I am more than happy to find music for the event of your choice. I am not specific on technical requirements-I do require adequate lighting, but other than that, I am very low maintenance.

I played with Jeremy Larson as a part of his CD album release around 2010. I must say that it was among the highlights of my cello career-he is a professional musician that has done orchestrations for The Black Keyes and several other bands. This time, he got to perform his own music featuring him as the lead singer. I was on the original CD for his album, and I got to play my favorite all-orchestral ballad just featuring several orchestral instruments and two cellos (I was one of the two cellos). I did this event for free, simply because I loved his music so much. Not only has he taught me expression, but how to love my cello even more than I already did.
