We are 9-piece Motown/Old Soul/Rockn'Roll Dance Band with horns, powerhouse lead vocals, old-school dancing backing vocalists, and award-winning Portland musicians. We do classic and deep cuts from the 60's and 70's!
We held a reception in Portland, OR last evening at which KD and the Hurt Motown Band performed. Our guests were able to do all the networking, gnoshing and socializing they are accustomed to, all with KD's sound filling the air and keeping the mood light and energized.
The band is amazing and Kris is so great to work with. She worked hard to meet our expectations and managed to exceed them. Due to last moment space issues we had ended up with only a small space in which KD and the Hurt were able to perform. KD handled everything with grace, patience and rolled with it. Thank you KD! And thanks to GIGSalad for bringing us together.
Price Range: $1200 +

We provide an authentic, old-school Soul Revue, complete with dancing backing vocalists, horns, fantastic songs, and award-winning musicians. Led by one of Portland's biggest powerhouse vocalists and bandleaders, Kris Deelane.
You can expect a high-energy performance of Motown/Stax/Soul classics and deep cuts that keep you and your event goers dancing, singing, and feelin' good!
Kris Deelane is making a loud noise in the Portland Rock scene. With her ten piece soul band The Hurt, Kris is amping up her performances in and around Portland and the Pacific Northwest. A true road warrior with years of solid touring experience, Kris is keeping it local and in the moment with shows all over town. From The Alberta Rose Theatre to The Doug Fir, McMenamin’s Edgefield to Al’s Den at the Crystal and a standing residency at Dante’s, she and the band are everywhere. Summer 2015, Kris Deelane and The Hurt performed at Oregon Country Fair, What The Festival, and Dixie Festival, and also opened for 3 Dog Night, and Martha Davis and the Motels.
Kris has performed with or shared stages with national artists such as Brian Wilson, Joan Jett, John Doe (X , The Knitters), Jill Sobule and Peter Yarrow. Her regional credits include Morgan Geer (Drunken Prayer), Sally Ford (Sally Ford and The Sound Outside) and Michael Dean Damron (I Can Lick Any SOB In The House). As a key figure in Portland’s Next Waltz (a tribute to The Band’s final show at San Francisco’s Winterland Ballroom in 1976, and filmed by Martin Scorsese) she has graced local stages with the likes of Jerry Joseph and the Jackmormons, Jenny Conlee‐Drizos (Decemberists/Black Prairie), David Jacob‐Strain, Ural Thomas (Ural Thomas and The Pain), Joe McMurrian, Christopher Worth (Worth/NIAYH) and Holcomb Waller to name but a few.
The Hurt is ten players strong and features a number of Portland music luminaries including Ned Failing (Mexican Gun Fight/Floydian Slips) on drums, Steve Kerin (Too Loose Cajun Band, Atomic Gumbo, Rose City Kings) on keys, Heidi Shuler (Merl Saunders) on percussion and Mark Bowden (Miriams Well, Josh Malm, Laura Ivancie) on guitar. With her backing singers, The Lady Parts, and horn section. Kris is dipping into deep cuts and old school favorites from the soul sounds of the 60’s and 70’s. Think Motown to Memphis, Stax to Atlantic records, Aretha to Etta. It’s all here!
