Aptitude as a bassist, professional cooperative behaviour and versatility in my repertoire and equipment are what I pride myself on. I can always adapt to any situation and follow through on what the people who hire me expect.
I have established and held down a career as an active and versatile bassist and bass instructor for nearly 25 years. I play electric bass and double bass covering a vast range of musical genres and especially enjoys metal, jazz, classical and world music.
My career as a bassist has had several great highlights and has taken me to the United States, Europe, Turkey and across his native Canada. My previous death metal band, Sinned, has served as an opening for Swedish death metal supergroup Arch Enemy and appeared on the Year Of The Carnivore soundtrack. With The Roma-Swing Ensemble, I have travelled to Romania on three separate occasions, once to study Romanian folkloric music with musician Marian Jantea and the later two to perform at a medieval festival and at functions concerning the Roma communities and culture of Europe. In 2008, I was the bassist for Simon Collins, the son of Phil Collins, and performed with him on Canadian and U.S. national television in addition to sharing the stage with bands like Collective Soul and appearing in his music videos. I currently perform with Aggression (thrash metal), Assimilation (death metal), Bonnie Scott (AC/DC tribute) Lache Cercel and The Roma-Jazz Ensemble, Summer Vibes (latin/reggae) and The Whiskeydicks (Celtic/Roma music).
I first studied piano during my childhood and eventually settled on electric and double bass in my teens. I have studied bass with some of Vancouver's top professionals including Laurence Mollerup, Rob Copeman-Haynes, Jodi Proznik and Rob Marr. I previously enrolled in Douglas College's music program with an emphasis on classical music as well as the jazz music program at Capilano University, culminating with a Bachelor Of Applied Music in Jazz and Contemporary Bass from Vancouver Community College.
