I offer a versatile repertoire including gypsy jazz, Western swing, jazz, pop, and New Orleans jazz, ensuring the perfect musical backdrop for your special occasion. Let me transform your event with my musical expertise and create lasting memories for you and your guests.
These guys were so amazing for our event. The music was upbeat, fun and wonderfully performed. We couldn’t be happier and will definitely be using them again.
I've had Gage and his trio at two of my annual 4th of July parties and they are the perfect summer garden party band - guests can focus on the music and be very entertained and guests can also mingle and the music is perfect as background. The guys are punctual with a cool style and are nice to the guests. Music is a nice mix of upbeat swing and jazz. I have a lot of musician friends and they are all very impressed with Les Bons Garcons.
We’ve known Gage now for a few years and have hired him on numerous occasions. Each time has been stellar! Most recently was a 60th birthday party for my Dad with a “Midnight in Paris” theme and they knocked it out of the park!
My mom loves him and his group, and that’s all that you need to know!!

I’m Gage Hulsey (pronounced “Hull-zee”), a Long Beach and Los Angeles-based jazz, swing, and electric guitarist and banjoist playing professionally full-time since 2008. I specialize in gypsy jazz and hot jazz from the 1930’s and 40’s, but I’m passionate about many different styles. Here are some styles and acts that I’ve performed with in those styles:
Gypsy jazz:
Les Bons Garçons – (my current gypsy jazz project performing in the greater Los Angeles area), John Jorgenson Quintet, Gonzalo Bergara Quartet, Joscho Stephan
Jump blues, rock & Western swing:
My group, The Jump Cutters, Phat Cat Swinger at Disneyland and the greater SoCal area, Bobby Wilson (son of Jackie Wilson), Norman Fox, Mozzy Dee, the late Roddy Jackson, Lil Mo and The Lonesome Crows
Big Band Jazz:
Sergio Vellatti, Alex Mendham & His Orchestra, Phat Cat Swinger, Blue Rhythm Orchestra
Tiki & exotica
Guitar and tsugaru shamisen with The Hilo Hi-Flyers
As a full time professional musician since 2011, I've encountered most scenarios. Just let me know what you need and we'll work it out!

My primary influences from a young age were guitarists, Django Reinhardt and Chet Atkins. It has since expanded to the high energy, showband-like feel of Louis Prima and Sam Cooke, the beautiful harmonies of bands like Los Panchos and Los Tres Aces, and the mind melting solos of Oscar Peterson. My current main influence would have to be the quirky yet virtuosic arrangements of The George Barnes Octet.
As for Les Bons Garcons, our collective influences are primarily the gypsy guitarists following Django. Players such as Moreno Winterstein and Tchan Tchou Vidal, as well as contemporary players like Bireli Lagrene, Tommy Emmanuel, and Martin Taylor. In addition we cite the classic French singers like Edith Piaf and Charles Trenet as influences.
