I perform a variety of genres that span decades of good music, from Otis Redding all the way to Amy Winehouse. I sing & play guitar, but also perform on keyboard too (which is the first instrument I ever learned). I have songs to entertain any crowd & tastes (except death metal & punk. I don't do that...).
Lisa Spykers is a singer/songwriter, guitarist & keyboardist from Melbourne, Australia. She best describes her music as blues, soul & roots.
For many years, Lisa was an instrumental music teacher and elementary school teacher in Melbourne, Australia, but in 2014 she decided to pursue her passion and dream of being a full-time musician.
Lisa is a travelling musician -- she settles in a place for several months & then moves on with short side-trips along the way. Last year, she spent most of her time in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia & Long Beach, California. She also played shows in Borneo, Thailand, The Philippines & Canada during her brief visits there.
Lisa's lifestyle is an adventurous one; she uses the opportunity of travel to expand her network & skills as a musician & to learn about the cultures & lifestyles of the communities she bases herself in. Lisa has been interviewed on radio in 4 countries. Travelling has also led to various recording & performance opportunities, as well as performing alongside talented musicians she meets at jam nights. In August 2015, she made a guest appearance on the show 'Long Beach Lens' & in October performed at the famous Kibitz room in LA with a 3 piece band.
Lisa's debut EP is available on iTunes & she has a second project to be released in 2016. Lisa's aim for the future is to continue performing regularly & to have her music heard by a wider audience. She endeavours to keep her dream of travelling, improving her art & performing for years to come.
I perform on both keyboard and guitar. I have my own equipment but I prefer a decent sound system (amplification and mixing desk).
