Luis McDougal (b.1997) is a Dominican-American guitarist, composer and improviser whose upbringing involves several music traditions including jazz, blues, rock, funk, avant-garde and Latin American styles. In addition to having received scholarships to attend Berklee College of Music (2019) and Manhattan School of Music (2023), Luis has been recognized by IBLA, Music Teachers National Association, The American Prize and New Music On The Point. Luis aims to reflect on music traditions in order to consider the possibility that music can be discovered in a transformative way for individuals and communities.
