For my stage hypnosis show, my performance can range from "Disney-Friendly" to NC-17, depending on your requirements.
The show is a non-embarrassing, audience-participation show where the volunteers become the stars, doing hypnotic skits similar to those done in improv comedy shows, but with the added appeal of them being in hypnosis and, therefore, far more creative and uninhibited in their humor! Trance happens quickly, sometimes instantly, and at the end of the show, the volunteers are all given a suggestion for self-improvement as my way of saying Thank You!
My magic shows range from strolling through a party doing intimate magic for small groups to a more formal parlor-style show. I use everyday objects like rubber bands, coins, cards, the lid from an old Thermos jug and even the spectator's minds to amaze and amuse. I rely heavily on comedy elements, so the laughs keep coming throughout the evening and your guests will leave knowing that they have been entertained by a guy who is skilled, funny and a really nice guy, to boot!
Hypnotist, Magician, Mentalist, author of the 1st e-book on stage hypnosis safety, Lee Darrow brings a unique and different show to every performance. His lifelong interest in hypnosis goes so far back in his personal history that even he can't remember a time when he wasn't intrigued by it and pursued it, which he still does, to this day!
He's been performing since high school and has entertained all across the US, Canada and the Caribbean for clients including Sandals & Beaches Resorts, Kraft Foods, McDonald's Y2K party, private parties for W. Clement Stone, on Buzz Killman's radio show on WGN Radio promoting the Woody Allen movie "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion" where he hypnotized Buzz's on-air sidekick in an hilarious set that Buzz re-broadcast, several times afterwards!
Lee has studied and been friends with many notable magicians, having taken Master's Classes with World Champion magician Michael Ammar, the man known as the king of coins, the late David Roth and even with the brilliant British magician, Paul Daniels. He honed his close-up magic skills at the legendary New York Lounge, in Chicago, working alongside the great Heba Haba Al Andrucci who was considered one of the greatest bar magicians in the world. His strolling magic earned him the title of Official Magician to Medieval Times in Schaumburg, IL during his multi-year tenure there.
In 1980, Peter Stephenson, of Siemans of Canada approached Lee to do a magic-related performance at Data '80, a computer show in the Chicago area. With only 20 minutes of time to learn about the prototype data test system, Lee walked out in front of the crowd and wound up selling FOUR of the systems - at $25,000 each! This led to an 8 show contract with Siemans and, later, with IdaCom, which, originally, was the division at Siemans that developed the IDS-11 system. Lee performed across the US and in Toronto and Edmonton, Canada during that time.
In 2004, Lee self-published the first e-book on stage hypnosis safety, which became the framework for a hypnosis certification program now used by a major insurance company. The new edition of his book is going to be released later this year (2023),
Since then, Lee has focused on private and corporate events, Post Proms, Graduation Nights and collegiate shows, especially for fraternities and sororities inclufing Delta Delta Delta, Sigma Chi and Delta Gamma at Northwestern University.
For my stage hypnosis show, I will need a sound system that I can connect to using my Mac laptop and a wireless microphone. Good sound is essential and the volunteers on stage need to hear me just as clearly as the audience.
Also - PLEASE DO NOT BOOK MY HYPNOSIS SHOW AS A SURPRISE. The surest way to kill a hypnosis show is to pull it on your guests as a surprise.
For my close-up magic shows, please let me know if there is a theme and I will customize my presentation so as to align with that theme - at no extra charge.
