Laurie knew how to setup and run a buffet line, which was the bulk of her responsibility. Unfortunately, she marked my wedding down on the wrong day, and wasn't able to provide the two additional servers I paid for. To add insult to injury, she threatened to cancel altogether because I wasn't responding a few hours before the event. As I was at the venue, and there was no service, and we'd confirmed the date previously, I had no reason to believe anything may be amiss.
I'm lucky my guests and family were so willing to step in and cover... but considering I had stressed to Laurie that this was the one thing I wouldn't tolerate, I was more than a little upset.
To her credit, she still showed, albeit late and grossly ill-prepared. She had also promised to bring (but didn't) knives and extra canopies, which I had planned for, but luckily, didn't need.
I would not hire her again, and would strongly caution others against assuming her administrative skills were on par with her catering abilities.
I only wish she was there earlier to set up.
My guests had to wait a longtime for the bar to get set up.
I had asked her to be there at 3:00, because the event started at 4:30. She showed up at 4:30. The ceremony was over at 5:00 and the bar was still not opened. We had to wait about another half an hour or more for her to open the bar.

I worked my way up from a server to a Catering Director/Meeting Manager for some of the most prestigious Hotels and Caterers in the SF Bay Area and gained invaluable experience.
I moved to the Boise area about 5 years ago and am excited to pioneer this business in the Treasure Valley.
I started this business because I saw a need for Party and Event Coordination, Party Service, Wait Staff, and Bartenders for private parties & events/corporate off-site events. My clients just want to enjoy their party for a change - so they called Make It Special Events!

We do not Cater, but I can help you find or source the food, provide a Private Chef's, do Prep and Display your Food, Set your Buffets, Decorate your venue, provide outstanding service, and best of all do an excellent clean-up job for you! Most of our client's say the clean-up is worth the cost - no messy kitchen to wake-up to in the morning.
