We are an Americana band that has tight arrangements and great harmonies. Our starts and stops are rehearsed and our choreography on stage is on point. We can be a trio and up to a six piece band. We have at least three hours of music. We are not too loud and look to be the perfect "background" by adjusting our sound down, or we can be a central focus in a concert setting. We can talk about the songs and share stories with an audience and "entertain" with facts, stories and color about music and our own experiences with music.
Manitou Strings is an eclectic and entertaining mix of Americana, roots, and rock 'n roll music. Acoustic instruments and three part harmonies make for a beautiful sound that drives and inspires you to dance...or makes you cry and grab another whiskey. Our covers range from Lucinda Williams, the Grateful Dead, the Eagles and originals speak about life, friendship and old mining towns in Colorado.
We have our own technical sound that we travel with, but the beauty of acoustic instruments is that we can play around a campfire, outdoors, or in a church with little to no equipment and still bring the sound and entertainment.

Our roots are in the traditional music that came over from England and Ireland in the ballads and songs of the people who settled in Appalachia. No one dug deeper into the traditional catalog than the Grateful Dead. And although they didn't have a great reputation at the time among the scholars of the old music, they were very much rooted in the traditional songs. We are also influenced by many singer songwriters including The Louvin Brothers, Bill Monroe and Flatt & Scruggs, moving into contemporary writers Tom Waits, Norman Blake, Fred Neil, and Lucinda Williams and even moving further into the current song stylings of Fruition, Trampled by Turtles, and Caamp. We love music and find inspiration in young and old, stories of woe as well as hard-driving anthems. We are an eclectic, genre-hopping, fun band.
We have our own sound system, plus mics, cords, XLR and quarter inch, and four quality speakers
