My nature is to be laid back and go with the flow, and my shows generally reflect that, all the way from the song selection to the energy in the room. My time on stage will be drama and worry free for everyone involved. When hired to do a job, my hope is to do it and do it well.
Hi, I'm Marcus.
I'm from Meridian, MS, the hometown of Jimmie Rodgers, the father of country music, and home state of quite a few of my own musical heroes. The majority of the time, I'm spending time with my wife, Lydia, and our two boys, Leland and Ike. When I'm not with them, I'm usually strumming a guitar and singing some of my favorite songs anywhere I have the opportunity to do so.
Some of my first memories revolve around music, generally involving church singing or a cassette tape playing in an old pickup truck. I picked up the guitar, banjo, mandolin, and more around age 12 and never looked back. My style of playing is influenced by country, bluegrass, folk, and church music.
I've spent the last 20+ years performing in live settings. I generally subscribe to the idea that less is more in my own musical performances. There's not a lot of jumping through hoops, but I prefer letting the songs speak for themselves with not much more than a guitar.
If you'd like to talk about booking me to play some music or if you'd like to connect for the future, reach out here and let's see if we can make something work.
I provide my own sound for small-medium venues.
