I play bass and tenor trombone, I can also double on tuba as needed. I have Doctorate and Master's degrees in Trombone Performance from the USC Thornton School of Music. I have been freelancing in California for several years now and will excel in any type of playing situation.

My primary instrument is bass trombone, but I also play tenor trombone and tuba. I can play in any style, classical, jazz, pop, whatever the situation calls for.
Mark Miller earned a D.M.A. in Bass Trombone Performance from the University of Southern California. He is a two-time recipient of the Robert Marsteller Endowed Memorial Award. As an active freelancer, Mark has recently performed as a Guest Artist with the Idylwild Arts Orchestra, the Brentwood Westwood Symphony Orchestra, and the Santa Monica Symphony Orchestra. Previously, he was the bass trombonist of the American Youth Symphony and has also performed with the Colburn Orchestra and the San Luis Obispo Symphony. He has played under the baton of some of the world's most renowned conductors, such as Michael Tilson Thomas, James Conlon, Carl St. Clair, and David Newman.
In addition to performing, Mark is active as a teacher and coach throughout Southern California. In February 2014, he presented a clinic and performed at the Big 12 Trombone Conference at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX. Mark spent the summers of 2011 and 2012 as the trombone teaching assistant for the Idyllwild Arts Summer Instrumental Program. Presently he is the brass coach for the Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, Temple City Unified School District, Don Bosco Technical Institute, and Huntington Middle School in San Marino. Mark's private students have gone on to study at Cal State Long Beach and Pasadena City College. They have also won positions in the SCSBOA Middle School Honor Orchestra, Tournament of Roses Honor Band, Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra, Pasadena Young Musicians Orchestra, Pacific Crest Drum Corps, and the Blue Devils Drum & Bugle Corps.
Mark is also a studio musician and can be heard on the films "With Great Power: The Stan Lee Biography" and "DOA: Dead or Alive". Mark studied with Terry Cravens at USC and also studied with Robert Sanders and Roy Main. Additionally, he studied jazz improvisation with Paul Young and Bill Watrous while at USC. He received a Masters in Trombone Performance from USC and a B.A. in Music from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo.
