Marshall Fairbanks first stepped behind two turntables and a mixer in 1983, spinning at house parties and school functions with a partner. Marshall continued to hone his skills while attending Susquehanna University in PA, where he disc-jockeyed on the college station WQSU FM and attained a B/A in broadcasting/mass communications in 1990.
A self-taught DJ, Marshall worked his first wedding in 1987 and officially began his mobile DJ company, Absolute Musical Creations, now called Marshall Fairbanks Entertainment International. Upon graduation Marshall began working in the television industry in NYC while spinning at small bars and clubs in N.J. Marshall met Lenny Haley of the world-famous China Club in N.Y.C. through a friend in the television industry and became resident DJ on 2-3 nights per week at the club in 1991. Marshall continued to work at the China Club for 3 more years, listening to Hex Hector the resident DJ on Monday night every chance he got, as well as earning residencies at clubs in New Jersey. Marshall returned to the China Club again in 1996 for a short while and continues to do work for the club when called upon. Marshall became member of City Sounds Record Pool, now International Music Center, in 1991 where he met pool President, Eddie Arroyo and Director, Rich Hernandez who were instrumental in teaching him about the music and DJ business. During the summer months from (phone number hidden)1 on Saturday and Sunday afternoons Marshall was the resident jock at Joey Harrisons Surf Club in Ortley Beach, NJ a 3000+ capacity beachfront nightclub and a Jersey Shore Nightclub institution.
Over the years, Marshall has spun everything from classic disco and freestyle, to todays house and hip-hop hits. Marshall has also entertained at celebrity events, including parties for Nile Rodgers (from Chic) and Chubby Checker's 50th birthday party at China Club, John Francos (NY Mets) 40th birthday party at Tribeca Rooftop, and was honored when friends Rich Christina and Joey Carvello asked him to DJ Atlantic Records legend, Arif Mardin's 65th birthday party at his Central Park penthouse in NYC. Typically his set will include house, R&B, hip-hop, reggaeton, disco and vocal club hits, taking the audience on a musical journey throughout the night. Marshall is one of the most versatile jocks in the business, music history fanatic, and vinyl collector.
Other Information: Marshall also worked at Gemini Sound Products, the largest manufacturer of DJ equipment in the world in 2000, where he was quickly promoted to Product Specialist. Marshall left Gemini in the fall of 2000 when three nightclub owners offered him a dream opportunity, relocate to Miamis South Beach, design and install the sound system for W6 Lounge and a four night a week residency. Marshall made the move to South Beach to DJ for 7 months and handled the Winter Music Conference events and bookings at W6 which included a kickoff party via satellite with Super Radio, a Debbie Gibson performance, a Ricky Martin party and his own performance during the conference with one of his favorite disc-jockeys, Unique, along his side.
