Hello! I'm a classically trained vocalist who sings in many different styles and languages. Need a special song for your event? I'm happy to oblige with enough notice. I can work as a solo artist using backing tracks, as a duo with an acoustic guitarist, a four piece vintage jazz band, or a Latin duo. I am a truly versatile performer with years of performance experience. Let's talk about how I can make your event truly unique and memorable!
Melissa is professional, talented, and works with you to ensure her performance is flawless. I would 100 percent book her again.
Response from Melissa Montoya Vocalist:
Thank you Melissa! It was such a pleasure to perform for your beautiful wedding! Congratulations!
Melissa M.
Price Range: $150 - $2,000
If hired for your event, I can be featured and more upfront or in the background, depending on the type of event and your needs. For example, if hired for a wedding, I will be off to the side as you process etc. If hired for a cocktail hour, I can be more upfront, but will keep volume at a level so that your guests can easily have a conversation without competing with the music.
Soprano Melissa Montoya received her Masters degree in vocal performance from the University of New Mexico in 2008. She has appeared on stage as Larina in Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin, the Mistress of the Novices in Puccini’s Suor Angelica Praskovia in Lehar’s the Merry Widow and most recently as Harriet in Musical Theater Southwest’s production of The Civil War. In concert, Ms. Montoya has sung alto solos in Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde, Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Bach’s Christ Lag in Todes Banden, Mozart’s Coronation Mass and Requiem. As a recitalist, Ms. Montoya specializes in Spanish and Latin American art song and the music of Mahler. Ever versatile, Ms. Montoya often performs as a jazz singer for her French Gypsy Jazz band, Swing Magique and as part of a Latin vocal and guitar duo, Girasol. Passionate about teaching, Ms. Montoya has a private vocal studio and teaches voice at the Albuquerque Institute of Music.
It is most helpful if I can be near an outlet/power source as I will most likely have amplification. I will have an extension chord!
