Michael has extensive experience as a communicator in front of a variety of audiences and with various event formats. He will work with you to understand your audience and adapt to best help you meet your event goals. Michael's motto is "proper preparation prevents poor performance."
Michael Meneer has a lot of experience and skills to draw from as an event host and moderator. He has nearly three decades of experience in journalism, fundraising and public affairs in the United States and Canada. He also has 50 credits as a TV/Film actor.
Michael has been President and CEO of the Pacific Salmon Foundation since April 2019 and prior to that was Vice President for Development, Communications and Marketing for ten years. He has emcee'd numerous events for the foundation and is a seasoned public speaker.
Before moving to Vancouver in 2007, he worked in Washington, D.C. as an association executive director, journalist and communications officer for two NGOs. This included stints at the ABC News affiliate in the nation’s capital, Catholic Charities and the U.S. Council on Competitiveness.
Michael earned a Bachelor’s degree in History from The Ohio State University in 1997 and a Master’s degree in Journalism and Public Affairs from American University in 2004. While a college student, Michael joined AmeriCorps, the domestic Peace Corps. That experience led to his appointment as executive director of the national AmeriCorps alumni association in Washington D.C. He travelled the country speaking to charitable and philanthropic organizations and lobbied the U.S. Congress to support the Peace Corps and AmeriCorps.
Michael is a dual U.S. and Canadian citizen.
