Mike was a fantastic addition to our Downtown Manhattan Beach holiday festivities. He played at the corner of one of our major intersections to entertain shoppers and diners and everyone stopped to hear him play. Definitely recommend!

I worked in the entertainment business for over 25 years and I’m now retired. I needed a steel drum player for a “on the beach “ party during the three day holiday. I went on gig and ultimately chose Mike Yates!! He should be your first choice too! He is talented, fair priced, polite and came prepared. We had a very very successful party because of his musical talents and ability to be social and accommodating!!

Mike is fantastic! He was the highlight of our tropical-themed house party, and so easy to work with. Between Mike’s steel drums and my little umbrella drink, I felt transported to the tropics (despite the winter temperature!). Some of my guests had never seen a live steel pan performance and they are still talking about how great Mike played. I’m thinking about hiring him again when we have a party at the beach! I highly recommend Mike!

- Solo steel drums with or without sound system. (With high quality backing tracks, Mike creates a polished tone for your special event.)
- Duo or trio options. (Expect stellar musicians on guitar, saxophone, drums, bass to join the steel drums in making memorable music for your event.)
- Live steel drums and DJ/Emcee, along with all the sound equipment needed to cover your entire event.
About
Mike Yates has been performing professionally for over 20 years, having played domestically and internationally. Mike plays steel drums to include drum set and various percussion.
Additional Booking Notes
I just need a simple power hook up. I play with two steel drums and a small PA.
If outside, I need cover for the drums as they are sensitive to sunshine. I have cover, but if it is available would be great!
