Onyx Club Boys is an acoustic string band (violin, guitar, upright bass, and drums) rooted in Django Reinhardt's Gypsy Jazz sounds of 1930's Paris, and Stuff Smith's New York City Swing. However, being from 21st Century North Carolina, their diverse influences take the music beyond borders. It's a trip around the world, which will make you swoon, tap your feet, and realize how universally similar music really is.
100% genuine. No backing tracks necessary! "Curiously exotic, yet pleasantly familiar".
Gabriel and the guys were awesome. Not only was their unique sound perfect for our wedding (and loved by our guests!), the input we got from Gabriel was incredibly helpful in putting together our ceremony. We decided to self-officiate and really didn’t know where to start creating our ceremony, much less what music we wanted and at what point during everything. Gabriel shared with us details about his own Quaker style self-uniting ceremony, as well as his observations from playing weddings. It was so helpful in figuring out just what we wanted! They we so up for and enthusiastic about our ideas and really worked with us to make sure everything went effortlessly. We had complete trust in these guys the entire time and never once had to stress about anything relating to the music. And let me reiterate- their sound is awesome!! So many guests commented on how great they were. We can’t wait to go see one of their local shows after our honeymoon. Thank you Onyx Club Boys!!!
Response from Onyx Club Boys:
Thanks for the kind words, Kelley. We really appreciate it!
Your wedding was truly beautiful...all the best to y'all!
The noon rooftop patio wedding was filled with sunshine and the amazing sound of the Onyx Club Boys accompanied by Tim Smith... The processional & recessional music was excellent & near and dear to the family. The father/daughter dance stole the show with the best rendition of "All About the Bass" and had to be played twice to fulfill the joy of all participants.. Best Day, Best Wedding, Best of the Onyx Club Boys on that day....
I booked the boys for our rehearsal dinner and I can’t tell you how phenomenal these guys were. They were communicative, on time, very tuned in to our needs, and grateful for the work. I received more comments about the music than I did about anything else. Very classy! Great musicians! Thanks guys for helping to make our evening special.
Response from Onyx Club Boys:
Thanks so much for the kind words. It was our pleasure to provide the musical ambiance for your special occasion.

The band has just released their new album, “Million Color Vision” in the summer of 2017. It features catchy originals along with a few classics, and was carefully crafted and recorded over the last few years. Available from CD Baby, iTunes, and live shows.
Appearances have included Shakori Hills Festival, Festival for the Eno, Haw River Ballroom, Cat's Cradle, Raleigh First Night, NC Museum of Art, WUNC’s Back Porch Music at American Tobacco Campus Durham, National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC, and many more.

"The cool dexterity of their playing binds together the broad catalog"
