Praised for her “rich dramatics” (The Boston Globe), and called "magnificent" by Fanfare Magazine, Pamela Stein Lynde is a sought-after soloist, ensemble singer, and interpreter of the music of contemporary composers. The 2023 season saw her performing at Princeton Sound Kitchen in composer Natalie Dieterrich and sculptor Felix Kindermann’s conceptual work Composition for Separated Musicians, as well as premiering new works in concert with Vocala Ensemble and The Princeton Singers, and appearing at multiple music festivals as a vocalist with experimental techno-country group Owen Lake and the Tragic Loves.
In recent years, Pamela worked with composer Lesley Flanigan and performed in the premier of Voices for Speakers at Roulette, and workshopped and performed many new works with Helix New Music Ensemble at Le Poisson Rouge. Other notable performances include premiering the role of Julia Dehning in The Making of Americans with Beth Morrison Projects at the Walker Art Center in Minneapolis, performing the role of The Violated Saint in Amy Beth Kirsten’s chamber opera Ophelia Forever, performing with violist Jessica Meyer in her song cycle Space in Chains in both New York and Philadelphia, and premiering a newly commissioned work by Jenny Beck at the National Opera Center. The long list of composers by whom Pamela has premiered works includes Trevor Weston, Tristan Perich, Jacob Cooper, Louise Fristensky, Lauren Butcher, and Eric Lemmon, among many, many others.
Pamela appears as a vocalist on minimalist composer Alexander Turnquist’s album Flying Fantasy, released on Western Vinyl, and on Owen Lake and the Tragic Loves’ album The Best of Your Lies, released on Carrier Records. The latter was named one of the Best Americana Albums of 2018 by Pop Matters.
As a singer, Pamela is an alumna of The Bang on a Can Summer Music Festival, SICPP, OperaWorks, and the Britten Pears Young Artist Programme. Upon her graduation from The Peabody Institute of Johns Hopkins University, she was awarded the Phyllis Bryn-Julson Prize for Commitment to and Performance of 20th/21st Century Music.
