We are a regularly gigging jazz band in and around New Orleans. We have a tight, fun, engaging show that blends rakish humor with New Orleans swing and RnB. We may not be wearing tuxedos in this photo, but we all know where to get one on short notice.

Gig Length: 30 - 240 minutes
Our show is flexible and can accommodate a wide variety of settings.
Our instrumentation is:
- Lead vocal
- Trumpet
- Tenor Saxophone
- Double Bass
- Guitar
- Drums
(These instruments are subject to change based on the need of the event/availability of the musicians. An example might be: our tenor player is unavailable, and we replace him with a fantastic trombone player. These things happen in New Orleans, and we believe it adds to the excitement and spontaneity of the music. We will always have a vocalist and we will always provide a high quality, engaging show, regardless of instrumentation. If you have a specific instrument request, please let us know and will do our best to accommodate you.)
Since we have two weekly shows that last between three and four hours each, we have a long list of material we can draw from. However, we are happy to learn songs that you would like us to play, granted we are given at least three weeks of notice, that they are within the style of the band (think of something that you might hear at a Sam Cooke concert, or at Preservation Hall, not at a Metallica or Avril Lavigne show) and with the understanding that this will increase the cost of the performance.
Our shows are in the classic New Orleans format: the band will play a forty-five minute set, followed by a fifteen minute break. If you travel to the city and visit our famous music clubs, you will notice that this is the form the bands will, more or less, follow. We are happy to adjust this timeline in accordance with your event, but we will not play longer than an hour and a half at any one given time. We are a stage act, and not a marching band, so if you are looking for a second line to accompany you on a parade route, we will gladly suggest some, but this is not the band you're looking for.
Our typical song includes an introductory chorus, played by the instrumentalists without vocals, a chorus of vocals, then a collection of solos followed by the vocalists singing us out. The energy is high, the improvisation is informed by the profound tradition of the greats that came before us, and the vibe is good. We love making music with each other and we're sure you will feel that in our show.
Where y'at !
Thanks so much for taking a second to get to know our group. We're sure we can provide the type of show you're hoping for and we look forward to meeting you at your event soon !
We are a New Orleans swing and RnB band performing at least twice a week since 2019. Our bandleader and singer, Darold Alexander, is a native of the city, a regular "lives around the corner" local with all the style and pizzaz you'd expect of a New Orleanian. His charismatic stage presence and easy flowing banter invites an audience to sit down, enjoy a drink and a laugh with someone you know, love, or even just tolerate (as he likes to say!). He's had plenty of opportunity to hone his craft, with over twenty years of performance experience, and continues to deliver a warm, sometimes raucous and always entertaining show to this day at the Spotted Cat Music Club on Fridays, and the Maison Club on Tuesday nights. If you're in the city, come by and say hi ! We'd love a chance to show you what we can do. (As an extra, be sure to stick around and see him on the dance floor, you won't be disappointed !)
The band he's assembled to support him are all veterans of the New Orleans scene. A collection of musicians from around the country, we've each independently chosen to leave our homes to pursue musical careers in the Crescent City. We have a polished collection of swing tunes, New Orleans favorites and RnB classics that work well on a jumping dance floor, will elevate any corporate event and enliven the celebration you might be having.
Again, thanks for taking a moment to read our bio and listen to our promotional tunes. We'd be glad to come and play music for your event.

We do not have a particularly difficult set up or any fancy requirements for our show. We are accustomed to performing in a wide variety of settings and can accommodate pretty much any event. We will play from the back of a moving truck, on a float, in a corporate ballroom, or in your backyard.
We have the ability to bring and set up our own PA and run our own sound. This does increase the cost. Please let us know in your inquiry if this is something you need.
We will need access to at least one, ideally two, 120 watt power sources, in order to run our sound. If we are to perform outside during the summer, we will need a shade structure, if it is winter we will need heat lamps. We will not play in any situation that jeopardizes the safety of ourselves or our instruments. We will be the ultimate arbiters of what that means. Please let us know in what setting we will be performing, so we can prepare ourselves accordingly. (A safely driven truck is not off limits; we are ready to get a little wild...)
As a New Orleans group, we draw heavily from the greats of this city, and from those musicians, globally, that have been influenced by what was created here. Each of us have spent a great deal of time with our instrument, studying those that came before us and learning what they have to offer. In our own particular way, we try to always bring ourselves honestly to the music which we believe makes our sound approachable, entertaining and true. Music has been, and continues to be, an integral part of New Orleans culture. We feel honored to be part of this continuing tradition.
There are to many acts to name that have influenced our sound. However, a few players that have influenced us individually might be: the great bassist Mark Brooks, the incomparable drummer Shannon Powell, the innovative guitarist Django Reinhardt, the true sounds of trumpet player Kid Thomas Valentine, and the authentic New Orleans sound of tenor saxophonist Roderick Paulin. Darold, our lead singer, might lean most on the sensual qualities of Sam Cooke and the excitement of James Brown.
