We’ve just finished our honeymoon off grid and this is the first thing I’m doing with my cell service, because all week we’ve reminiscing about how incredible Phil, Emily, Jake, JW and Charlie were to play after our wedding reception. We had a 100 person wedding for an entire weekend and having these folks play after our reception was the definite highlight for us and our guests. Phil Hood and the Exclamation are very talented, very fun, very easy to work with, and always knew exactly what to play.
I, the bride, didn’t stop dancing all night. Neither did my husband. And neither did our guests. They played an array of tunes, from Tom Petty to Cotton Eyed Joe to a whole bunch of east coast/fiddle tunes. We loved every single song.
We also got three of the band member to play during our ceremony, and during our cocktail hour. It was PERFECT. They learned the song I walked down the aisle to, as well as our first dance song.
I really cannot recommend these folks highly enough.
Thank you so much for bringing so much magic to our wedding day, my friends.
Phill Hood and the Exclamations played our wedding this past weekend. We seriously cannot say enough good things about them. The music was incredible - the guys are super talented and have a great repertoire! They were so, so easy to work with and very accomodating of our venue's permitted sound levels. They kept our dance floor going for hours (I - the bride - don't think I left the dancefloor once). Phill also played a beautiful acoustic set for us during the cocktail hour. They made our day.
We hired the band for our wedding in September and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. It was a Scottish-Canadian affair so the band tailored their set to provide a Celtic element that was perfect for the day (Phill wore his kilt too!). The music was fantastic and all our guests loved them. They played such a wide range of music that kept everyone dancing. They were also so fun and friendly, mingling and chatting with everyone during the breaks, that they felt like wedding guests themselves.
Throughout the planning for the wedding, Phill was so friendly and professional. He was always very quick to respond to all our questions and requests.
We would highly recommend Phill Hood and the Exclamation for weddings, or indeed any event!
Phil Hood and the Exclamation played our wedding in August 2018. They were absolutely incredible, and completely made the night. They have such a wide repertoire, and seemed to be able to take any request that was given. They were also so friendly to everyone, and very professional to deal with. They arrived early to set up, to make sure everything sounded just right.
I also can't say enough about how great they were to work with in advance of the night. They respond so quickly to emails, and were always able to answer any questions we had.
If you are thinking of booking them for any sort of venue, I can definitely say that you will not be disappointed. Their sound is incredible.
Thanks again to you all.

Phill Hood and the Exclamation played at my dad's 70th birthday party in Hamilton this November 2017, and we couldn't have picked a better band! They had an amazing repertoire of music, their energy is incredible and they had everyone dancing - young and old!
The staff at the venue loved the band too - literally, everyone commented on how great they sounded.
Thanks, Phill you guys made our night!

Phil and his band played at our outdoor private party and they were incredible. Phil answered my emails right away and was very helpful making the experience great. All of our guests loved their music and they chose songs that paired perfectly with our theme. I highly recommend them and will book them next year for our event too!!
My husband and I met Phill Hood at a local pub back in 2012 (on one of our first dates!)- and we both saved his card because we were so blown away by his talent. When we got engaged in 2015, we both still had Phill's card in our wallets and he was the first person we called for our back-yard engagement party. Phill played for our intimate group of 60 friends and family members in our backyard and everyone went crazy! They all told us that they have never heard such an amazing musician! He was so kind, accommodating and down to earth, and everyone was in love with him and his musical talents. We actually had neighbours knocking on our door for weeks asking who was playing the beautiful music! After our engagement party (June of 2015), we acted quick to make sure that we booked Phill Hood for our wedding in October of 2016. We had Phill and his band mate Jarred present at our ceremony (prelude music and all ceremonial music), cocktail hour and for dinner. Following dinner, we had the whole Phill Hood and the Exclamation band play for the rest of the evening (until 3am!). All I can say is that our guests are still talking about our music and how fun our wedding was! Everyone was on the dance floor (I don't think I saw one person sitting!) Their energy lit up our whole venue.
Phill is professional, understanding of your needs/wants, and such a pleasure to work with. He was amazing to work with and I can not wait to have another event, so that I can hire him again!
Thank you to Phill Hood and the Exclamation for making my wedding day so incredible, you rock!!
I've seen Phill Hood and the Exclamation at many venues and events, and they always put on a unique, energetic and exciting show. The breadth of their experience and stage dynamic means you'll get personality, skill and heart with every song, whether it's an original, a trad celtic tune, or a classic cover that they breathe new life into. Each member is a vocalist/multi-instrumentalist, making every show fresh and their set list limitless. I've worked with them in the past and would happily again. Not only do they bring a stellar live show, but they are professional, thorough, attentive throughout the booking process, and always aware of the venue or clients needs. In my many years in the music industry, I've yet to meet a fellow musician or venue with a bad word to say about these gents. Phill Hood and the Exclamation sets the bar high, has a great stage presence and is packed with incredible talent. Absolutely hire these fellas. You won't be disappointed.

Phill is an award-winning singer/songwriter and international touring artist from St. John”s, Newfoundland. Since moving to Toronto in 2003, he has been blessed to have shared the stage with many of the city”s most talented musicians! Having grown up in rugged Newfoundland, Phill was exposed to Celtic music and culture at a very early age, but did not truly embrace it until he left his homeland to study music in Toronto and started to miss the sounds that reminded him most of home. Having honed his craft in many a dark pub, Phill quickly found himself in a network of similar minded musicians as he began to craft a sound deep rooted classic rock, power pop, with subtle maritime and Celtic roots.
Phill's full outfit, "The Exclamation" bring the songs to full capacity with an energy unmatched and driven by the raw desire to make powerful music!
