An observational songwriter born into the era of home recording, Pierce Alexander released his debut album The Minutehand Feb. 11, 2022. While his image is unassuming, the Nashvillian musician’s songs are solidly layered with deep introspection and vivid lyrical imagery. Alexander tells heartwarming and sometimes painstakingly written stories that slowly unfold for better or for worse. The Minutehand is a lush and evocative song cycle in which the narrator explores themes of unexpected separation, addiction, and feeling trapped by the confines of early adult life.

We generally play mostly original music, though we are also very open to tailoring the amount of cover songs to the fit the needs of each individual opportunity. Our original set typically lasts about an hour but we are happy to tweak the set length to fit the needs of the gig. I am also ready to roll up my sleeves and put in the hard work to promote our music shows. It has always been a goal to make each show unforgettable. I always make sure to do the work on my end to make sure the experience is as great as it can be.
Over the course of an album, an EP, and a number of singles, Pierce Alexander has quickly become known for his unique songwriting and carefully crafted musical arrangements. The Charlestonian songwriter began making a name for himself with performances around the Southeast and admirable reviews for his previous work, including his 2022 album The Minutehand, which Under the Radar Mag said lyrically “traces the beckoning pull of nostalgia, surveying memories of past and present longing.” Yearning for a different music scene and a life in the big city, Alexander moved to Nashville in 2023, where he currently resides. He returns this year with “Stain”, a new single that finds him exploring themes of infidelity. The track was a collaborative musical effort between Alexander and Coco Camp, who also recorded, mixed and produced the song. This release hints at a new era in Alexander’s sound and a larger body of work to come.
Alexander wrote and recorded the demo for “Stain” back in 2020, and it was originally a leading contender for the final set of songs to appear on his debut album, The Minutehand. Though it easily could have made the cut, he felt that the arrangement of the song needed to be honed a bit more and decided to temporarily leave it in the demos folder. After showing the demo to his friend Corey Campbell a couple years later in 2022, the two decided to re-think the arrangement. Campbell also provided instrumental assistance on the track and the result is a profound soundscape of organic and electronic sounds that don’t neatly fit into the mold of any one genre. The lyrics are a window into the life of a new parent unable to recognize the partner they once knew.
Our band most often has 4-5 members, and we do require at least a fair amount of electrical outlets to plug in our equipment. We do also require an audio engineer so if we need to bring our own, that would definitely be ideal to know upfront. As far as equipment goes, it is always great to know if there is already a PA at the venue as well as microphones just so we can plan accordingly.
This varies depending on the performance but it is usually 7-12 original songs with 1 or 2 being cover songs played in our style.
