I am an experienced and versatile bagpiper currently living in Waterloo Region. I play a wide variety of music and do a wide variety of events. Take a look through my profile to learn more about what I do. Let me help you make your event great!
Fitzpatrick is a true professional.
He arrived early, was very patience with us ( our event started a bit later than scheduled ) and was a wizard on the bagpipe, making the event memorable !
we will definitely book him again
Fitzpatrick was an awesome addition to our college's graduation ceremony playing the procession for our students and staff to enter and exit the venue hall. Arrived early and stayed a bit after the ceremony to ensure he was no longer needed to play. Filled gaps with song requests from audience while we were trying to organize a group photo. Overall, highly recommended!!
He played perfect for our day!! He added that little extra surprise for my husband and played 2 extra songs! I highly recommend adding him to your event!😀
He did a fabulous job! Everybody was very happy and pleased!!! 5 stars. Especially when he played us some AC/DC! ;) ;) Rock on! Thank you! :)
PHF did a fabulous job at my wedding! I asked him to play for my recessional and he did exactly as I asked. I had a lot of compliments about having the bagpipes played on my special day. Highly recommend him! :)

Thanks so much Alyssa! And congratulations.
All our guests loved the music. Piping Hot Fitzpatrick added such a lovely touch to our wedding. He was on time and did everything we asked for. Plus he was impeccably dressed!
P H came bustin ' in with Happy Birthday droning through his bagpipes to an instantly enthralled crowd of guests. High impact and a great surprise!!! Further memorable bagpipe tunes followed.
Would definitely hire again!! Great sound!

Hello! My name is Rhys Fitzpatrick. I am an experienced piper currently playing with the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada Pipes and Drums. I have been playing for about 11 years! I have played bagpipes around Canada and the world, from the Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo in Halifax, to Liberation celebrations in the Netherlands, to the Remembrance Day service at the Vimy monument in France. I have played a wide variety of types of music with an even wider variety of ensembles. From playing marching tunes with the Japanese Self Defence Force Band to playing rock music with The Trews, I can fit into any ensemble you may require, given the time to prepare and coordinate. Of course, I am also very familiar with traditional bagpipe music for any occasion. Please let me know how I can make your event great!
-The bagpipes must be tuned every time they are taken out of the box. If possible, set aside a quiet room or outdoor space where I am able to tune my pipes for 5-10 minutes prior to performance. If this isn't possible, let me know so I can make alternative arrangements to ensure I am sounding my best!
-The bagpipes are often played either in key moments, or periodically throughout an event. I can only play for about 10-15 minutes straight without stopping for at least a minute or two. This will be true for any piper you may hire. Please consider this before hiring for something like a graduation - no piper will be able to play for an hour straight while every student is called up!
-The bagpipes are quite loud in small, indoor spaces, and can damage the hearing of young children and animals if exposed for extended periods of time. More spacious venues are preferred.
-Despite the ceremonial garb I am wearing in many of my photos, for most events I will be wearing a lighter and more professional outfit consisting of a kilt, hose, sporran, dress shirt, vest, and glen. I may wear a tunic if the weather is colder, or the event is ceremonial in nature. Let me know if you have any specific outfit requests and I will see what I can do.
I will already know traditional bagpipe music such as:
-Marches
-Slow Airs/Laments/Funeral tunes
-Jigs/Hornpipes
-Strathspeys and dancing music
-Piobaireachd
If you have a specific bagpipe tune you would like me to play, please let me know at least 1 week ahead of time so I have time to learn it.
Not all music is able to be played on the bagpipes due to the constraints of the instrument. If you request a song which is not traditionally played on the bagpipes, it is likely not possible. However, you can still ask! I may be able to make it work depending on the key, style, etc.
Finally, if you would like me to perform as part of an ensemble, please connect me to who I would be playing with so we can discuss the details and what it would take to make it work.
Nothing is required that I can't already bring with me!
