When you hire me, you can expect an engaging, energetic, and fun experience tailored to your audience. I bring a lively mix of traditional and American-style polka that are sure to captivate and entertain. I’m dedicated to making each performance interactive, often encouraging the audience to join in and try some of the steps themselves.
Beyond just the dancing, I love sharing the history and cultural significance behind each dance style, giving audiences a richer appreciation of these traditions. Whether you’re hosting a community event, festival, or private gathering, I ensure that everyone walks away with a smile and a new connection to the art of dance.
My name is Maciej Smusz, and I'm an experienced polka and folk dance instructor with over a decade of teaching experience. I specialize in Polish and Ukrainian folk dance, as well as recreational and American-style polka. My passion for folk dance has taken me to Poland, where I've worked closely with specialists and ethnographers to study traditional dance forms in depth. I’ve had the pleasure of teaching students of all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced dancers, and am dedicated to sharing the joy and cultural richness of folk dance with others.
For my performances, I can either bring my own sound equipment or work with the venue's setup—whichever is more convenient for you. I can adapt to various spaces, but for safety reasons, I prefer to perform on hard floors rather than grass or carpet. This helps ensure that everyone can dance safely and comfortably.
In terms of lighting, a well-lit area is ideal so that the audience can see the movements clearly, but I can adjust to different lighting conditions as needed. If you have any specific requirements or preferences for staging, just let me know, and I’ll do my best to accommodate them.
