Punt on Third is a Minneapolis based trio that plays music inspired by various American Roots traditions, but with special attention to 3 part harmony and intricate instrumentation. Whether channeling old-time fiddle tunes, progressive bluegrass arrangements, or just straightforward folk, we think we do a pretty good job of being distinctly Minnesotan (for better or worse). We love creating and playing music we think people will enjoy listening to – come join us, won’t you?
My husband and I discovered Punt on Third by chance at Aster Café a couple years back. We were captivated, they were so good! -- charming, incredible musicians, up-beat song writing, and such good harmonizing. Right away, we made a note: these guys would be perfect for a wedding reception. A year and a half later when we did get engaged, we reached out to Punt on Third to see if we could book them. I was so delighted when we received a response in the affirmative. Having Punt on Third play at our wedding was seriously one of my favorite parts of the day. They were so kind and flexible, offering to cover several songs of our choice for the ceremony and cocktail hour. They were a huge hit with our guests, and everyone was wondering how on earth we got such great musicians. Truly great band. My only regret is that we didn't book them for the whole night! Highly recommend Punt on Third!
