Rachel and her band will provide the audience with an intricate collection of acoustic songs. She plays mostly original music, but she also includes traditional country and Americana songs in her sets. If there are specific country or Americana songs that you'd like to hear, just let her know ahead of time and the band will put together a thoughtful arrangement. Her influences include artists/songwriters like Lee Ann Womack, Miranda Lambert, Brandy Clark, John Denver, and Clint Black. She often performs with just one other musician on acoustic guitar and background vocals, or she can add any combination of electric guitar, fiddle, mandolin, dobro, pedal steel, bass, and/or drums.
Rachel Whitcomb has performed regularly in the Pittsburgh region over the past ten years. The lyrics in her original songs have often touched the hearts of her audience members, bringing them to tears! Her music can be found on Spotify, Apple Music, and many other music streaming platforms. Highlights of her live performances include opening for Ronnie Milsap at the Capitol Theatre in Wheeling, WV, singing at The Club at The Pavilion at Star Lake, as well as regular appearances at area bluegrass festivals and venues throughout Pittsburgh. In addition to songwriting and performing, Rachel is Associate Dean and Associate Professor of Music Education at the Mary Pappert School of Music at Duquesne University.
Rachel can bring her own sound system or use the house equipment. Her sound system can fill a large room and she'll just need some space to set things up. If house equipment is preferred and she is just working with one guitarist, she'll simply need two vocal mics and she'll need to plug in 2 acoustic guitars. If a small acoustic band is desired using house equipment, she'll need 2 vocal mics, and she'll need to plug in 2 -3 guitars. Musicians can bring amps.
