Rebecca Sacks, mezzo-soprano, is known for her dynamic stage presence, smart musicality, and stylistic versatility. With a voice described as “tuneful” and “dashing,” she has recently been heard as The Witch in Philadelphia Opera on Tap’s production of Hansel and Gretel, as Fricka in Miami Wagner Institute's Das Rheingold, and as The Waitress/Fargo Dater in Fargo-Moorhead Opera’s (phone number hidden)1 production of Speed Dating Tonight where she was also scheduled to make her role debut as Mamma Lucia in Cavalleria Rusticana prior to cancellations due to COVID-19. This summer she will join Delaware Valley Opera Company as Santuzza in Cavalleria Rusticana and as Pepa in Goyescas as well as making concert appearances with St. John's in the Village as Sara in Roberto Devereux and as a soloist in Wilimington Concert Opera's Bel Canto Gala.
A champion of new music, Ms. Sacks has premiered works with the Oregon Composers’ Forum, the Tai Hei Ensemble, and both the University of Oregon and Stanford composition departments.
She holds degrees from Stanford University and the University of Georgia and has received awards from the American Prize in Opera, the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, the Orpheus Competition, Opera Connecticut, and NATSAA. Rebecca currently resides in the Philadelphia area with her partner and her beloved cat.
I require either a sound system from which I can stream pre-recorded accompaniment tracks or for a separate accompanist (pianist or other instrumental ensemble) to be hired. I do NOT require a microphone for operatic music for most indoor venues, but will require one for outdoor venues or for non-operatic/classical music.
