Live reptile education programs for classrooms, libraries, festivals, birthday parties, and more!
Reptile Adventure was the talk of our free to the public “Family Fun Day” we hosted in Schenectady. The line to view their reptiles was 20 deep every time I looked over towards them. The event was attended by 300+ kids, including my own and walking around all you could hear was did you see the size of that lizard, or I didn’t know there was a lizard without legs. It was so cool, and they will definitely be invited back to our event next year! Thank you so much, Reptile Adventure!
We hired this vendor to provide entertainment for a fifth birthday party for a mixed crowd of adults and children ranging in age from 1-8. We had such a good time! The vendor was timely, provided good set up instructions and prompt responses to questions. She was good with the kids and explained each creature, allowing for gentle petting and questions as they came up. We are glad we hired Reptile Adventure. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of fun we all had. She also included some coloring pages, a stuffed animal for the birthday boy and some contact cards.
The children attending the holiday celebration had a wonderful time learning and discussing the history of the reptiles presented. The facilitators were excellent!
The woman was awesome with the kids and she stayed the whole party even though she was only scheduled and paid to stay an hour. I really enjoyed her reptile collection and I would definitely recommend Reptile Adventure to anybody throwing a party...we thank you for the awesome reptiles and for coming on time ....thank you
This was such a great experience for all ages!! Definitely a highlight!
The kids at my granddaughters party absolutely loved it!!! Professional and wonderful!! I highly recommend!!
We were so impressed with Reptile Adventure! Jessica was very educated, kind, and she had everyones attention in the room. We couldn't be happier with our decision to hire her for our sons 6th birthday party which consisted of boys and girls from 4 to 7 years of age. We'd recommend her to anyone who had a child interested in reptiles or wildlife! Thank you so much Jessica for making our sons birthday party memorable for all. :)
Response from Reptile Adventure:
Thank you! We had a great time! :) - Jessica
This was an awesome event! My son and his friends had a blast! The reptiles were very cool! They couldn't stop talking about it! The adults thoroughly enjoyed it too!
Response from Reptile Adventure:
Thank you for your review! Your group was very enjoyable for us and the animals to meet!
Jessica was very good with the kids who were quite enthusiastic. They all got to touch and in some cases hold the animals - but only if they wanted to. She told them it was quite ok to say "no thank you " to petting a lizard!! I had kids aged 2-10 and they were all engaged with the show.
All the reptiles were really cool and interesting and we all had a great time.
I had reptile adventure come to my sons 5th birthday party. All of the children enjoyed the reptiles and the parents are raving over my sons party. The kids got to hold most of the reptiles and they had a blast learning about them. The kids are still talking about all the reptiles they met at the party.
The reptiles were a huge hit at our son's 7th birthday party long after the reptiles were gone! This was the first time we had ever incorporated animals into a birthday party and it was amazing. I would definitely recommend Reptile Adventure to others.
Reptile Adventure performed at a birthday party for my son who just turned 5 and we had 28 very excited kids in attendance. They did a wonderful job speaking to the children on their level and the kids loved being able to see, touch and hold the reptiles. This is a real interactive show that is both fun and educational. The Sheas' are very professional and enthusiastic about what they do. We had many parents ask for information about them following the show. We highly recommend them.
Mrs. Shea and her assisistant came to my home to put on a show for my daughter's 13th birthday. It was a huge success! My daughter had a theme of 'gothic romance' and the Reptile Adventure crew dressed up to match the theme and keep the ambiance! They were very kind, answered all the questions, patient with giggly girls who had never seen a snake up close before, gentle with the one girl who did not want to be close to the animals but wanted information and education and managed to hold the attention of adults and children(ages 6-15)alike with a mixture of fun facts, reptile care informaiton and general education.
I highly recommend Reptile Adventure for any in-home or classroom event you have, regardless of age or gender!

Our basic show is an overview of reptiles and amphibians; we explain what makes a reptile a reptile, and how different reptiles live in their native ecosystems. We have a variety of animals from all over the globe, including Central American rainforests, Middle Eastern deserts, and the rocky steppes of Eastern Europe. Topics usually include what the animals eat, how they find their food, how they avoid predators, and what related animals can be found in New York. Conservation and ecology are explored, along with discussions of responsible pet-keeping.
Every Reptile Adventure presentation involves allowing audience members to touch and feel the animals. We are also more than happy to allow the audience to line up for photo opportunities after the show is done.
Every show features at least nine animals, and usually more.
We provide fun, hands-on, and interactive live reptile programs for classrooms, birthday parties and other celebrations, festivals, summer camp programs, and more! Participants get to touch and even hold animals during our programs. Our focus is on safe, friendly interactions and experiences.
For our one-hour reptile presentation (generally for classrooms and parties), we bring 9-11 animals that exemplify different adaptations and characteristics, including frogs*, turtles, lizards, and snakes. The program touches on many topics, including geography, ecology, chemistry, history, culture, and much more. Each presentation is tailored to suit the educational level of the participants, shaped by their questions and interests. Upon request, we are happy and able to adapt our repertoire to accommodate people of any age with special needs.
Our festival booths consist of a minimum 10x10 space with at least 18 different animals and two or more educators present. The booth will have continuous free-form interaction with guests.
Our mission statement:
We strive to bring a cheerful and positive approach to educating with reptiles; to do so without hype, tall tales, or attempts to frighten the audience—just friendly animals, stranger-than-fiction facts, and sensitive, knowledgeable educators.
*Frogs may not be available during temperature extremes, as they are more sensitive than reptiles.
Our program takes about 45-60 minutes depending on the age and attention span of the kids.
We recommend that you have us scheduled to arrive at least 30 minutes after the official start of the party to give the kids time to socialize, and for latecomers to straggle in.
We do not require a deposit; just payment in full the day of the party in cash or check.
What we need from you the day of the party:
- Space for the kids to sit, with enough room for me to maneuver around when I bring animals around for them to pet or hold.
- A close parking space if possible; some of the animals can be heavy
- A small table, even just a coffee table is enough
- A chair, if possible
- If the presentation space is up or down a flight of stairs, I may need a hand getting one or two of the more awkward animal containers up and down.
- If the temperature is under 65F, we will need to be indoors; otherwise, barring rainy weather, we can be outdoors in a shaded area. If we're outside, I recommend having blankets or sheets spread on the ground for the kids to sit on so they aren't getting eaten by insects.
- Please provide adult supervision for the participants; they MUST follow directions (stay seated, no horseplay, handle or touch animals in manner directed by educator) or the animals will be returned to their travel boxes for safety.
- Provide a separate area for uninterested adults to socialize. They are often much more distracting than they realize, and we will gladly tease them about setting a bad example for the kids, if they're doing that!
I suggest, for after the program, having a hand-washing station prepared with antibacterial soap and paper towels; a shared cloth towel is not as sanitary. We will also have hand sanitizer, but hands should be washed with soap and water after touching animals.

Our program takes about 45-60 minutes depending on the age and attention span of the kids. We present about 9-11 animals and allow most of them to be touched--and some of them to be held. After all of the animals have been presented and interacted with, we are almost always willing to allow participants to revisit and spend more time interacting with animals they found particularly engaging. This is also a good time for the grown-ups to have their turn holding the animals and asking questions; with an extraordinarily fascinated group, this sometimes makes our gig last a bit longer than 60 minutes. There is no extra charge for this, of course.
Charles DeVerger, Quincy, IL's local herpetologist and reptile educator was Jessica's idol and inspiration. We also owe a debt of gratitude to local Capital Region (of NY) herpetoculturist Joe Wadagnolo for giving us the confidence (and good hard nudge) we needed to create Reptile Adventure.
